Elbow's Scrapheap (Notcromunda) Project
« on: October 30, 2021, 03:45:02 AM »
Quick version: I took a break from my larger project (a dungeon crawl game) to design a fun quick project - namely a fantasy/medieval skirmish game.  A fast, frantic, silly game.  My buddy who currently has a massive hardon for Necromunda was asking if I'd consider writing my old west rules (Shoot N' Skedaddle) for the Necromunda setting.  I told him that was waaaaay too much work and would be a massive project.  Then the light bulb went off while we were playing the new fantasy skirmish game.  Translate that to a post-apocalyptic game.  Boom.

So...yes I'm designing two other games while taking a break from designing one game (logic).  This as-yet unnamed project we jokingly refer to as Notcromunda, but it's really just a post-apocalyptic gang fighting game...suitable for any setting.  Mad Max, Judge Dredd, etc.

Both of us had been thoroughly unimpressed with GW's relaunch of Necromunda so he's been stoked to have a reason to use his models and he's been painting up a storm and building a lot of terrain.  I've started collecting a small assortment of Orlock gangers and building them.

A cyber-doggo.

Some thiccc boys.

Scrawny scouts.

Proper gang lads.

The joy here is that the rules are setting/model agnostic, so we can have a lot more fun and diversity in models and kit-bashing.  No silly limits like Necromunda has become notorious for in its latest edition.  I will knock out another 8-10 minis so I can have some options.

Some pictures from games lately.  Credit for the table goes to my buddy.  It's nice to not have to build something for once!

A rogue Amboth rips three of my six gangers in half...

Those Orlock mods are cool, and that is a really nice looking table.

A few more models finished.  Played a few games over the last week but I always forget to pull out my damn phone and take pictures.

Some scenario markers and objectives:

Dapper Dan, Sky Pirate and a thumper shootin' fella.

More gangers

Dang it mate, yet again you are making me like something I was not originally keen on. I love the aesthetics of your work.

As per everyone else that looks spectacular.

I will be making a close copy of your objective markers in the very near future.

Yeah the objective markers are handy.  In this game it's a post-apocalyptic setting (we happen to be playing in Necromunda) and there's a component to gaining experience which includes grabbing loot.  It's nice to have identifiable markers.

We played a wild game last night with two large gangs and a responding 'Arbite' force.  I think we came out on top, kinda sorta...but it becomes a smash and grab when people start getting blasted with melta-guns and a ratling punches several holes in an Ogryn's head with his lasgun.

Another game last night.  Fun to have a quick and violent skirmish game that can be wrapped up in about 45 mins. to an hour.  Makes weekday gaming more attainable.

Great looking figures and games!

Having a quick skirmish option available is always good. Big games are good, but need time!

These games have been some of the best/closest/most fun games we've played in a while.  Every game has been a fun story and chock-full of mayhem.  I'm taking a break from another batch of miniatures right now - having finished some for the fantasy version of the rules earlier today!  lol

Not the best pictures, but some more gangers have been knocked out for the project.
