A few Japanese additions. These are all from SHQ. Their figure sculpts are slimmer than most other 20mm ranges and they don't always sit well side by side with them, however in the case of gun crews I don't think that really matters. As long as the crew all fit together the chances are they won't be seen directly adjacent to other figures anyway. It's a strange thing, but I'm always a bit disappointed when I first receive SHQ figures yet they never fail to paint up well and look the part.

A few extra casualties to add to the mix. They are always handy for illustrating the AARs and it seems you can never have enough.

A small addition for the Japanese. This is a set of three mules and their handlers that comes from the 172 Miniatures range. I have in mind a few Chindit raiding scenarios and envisage these being amongst the targets.

Very nice. It was the Airfix German Mountain Troops set that came with a mule IIRC, in grey blue plastic. Nice model as I recall. Now wondering who does a pack mule STL.

Thanks. The Airfix Jungle Hut came with a few mules and Japanese handlers. I have two sets of them in a box somewhere. The figures were quite small but might match up okay with these. Will give me a pretty good size mule train (if you were a Chindit you might describe it as a target rich environment 🙄)

I am not quite sure how best to wargame Chindit operations, given they rarely did 'stand-up' fights, and were more tasked with hit and run. Though building a Wingate figure would be interesting. Who does a 28mm bible and bearded fanatic?

I have made notes for a PSC with Chindits. The idea is they don’t follow the traditional ladder structure in sequential order but rather approach different maps from a couple of ‘off ladder’ maps conducting raids and hit and run. Challenge for the Japanese player is where to allocate units to protect the LOC, but also allow an option for a ‘counterattack’ where they send out a force on a search and destroy mission. I’m sure I can make it enjoyable for the Chindit player, hopefully I can find enough to make it the same for the Japanese.
