The reason I made the Pershing and M36 was driven by seeing the Bazooka Town campaign for Chain of Command in the 2021 Lard Magazine. It's set in 1945 and the Americans have a Pershing and a M36 Jackson available as support options, so that inspired me to add those two to the collection.

More unusually the campaign features two Tiger IIs, something you don't expect to see in a platoon level skirmish game. Even more bizarre I actually had a box of two Tiger IIs from Pegasus Hobbies that I'd never made and had even failed to sell at a convention bring & buy sale. I unearthed them from the stash and completing them means I have all I need to start the campaign should I wish. As always with these quick build kits the level of detail is not high, but I think they will do the job. The crew figure is from AB. There's more about them in a post on the blog here https://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2022/10/a-tale-of-two-tigers.html

It's interesting your last 2 sets of vehicles were big cats, and big cat killers...

Lovely work on all of them.  And, level of detail notwithstanding, those Tiger IIs look great.  Well, so do the M18 and M36.. :D

At that date in the war, no spares so no track lengths on the turret and you could have just painted grey barrels and red oxide all over... sad you didn't go for octopus camo..  I would love to see what you could do with that..

A few pieces of scatter terrain in the form of more conversions of Lledo die cast trucks for the Far East. I posted the locomotive earlier and now I've added a small MDF train station.

Hi mate

Nice thread, like those trucks, I went back and looked at your locomotive, nice build, what particular Dapol model is it? And what is it’s scale? I bought a Trumpeter German locomotive kit a few years back, but it’s 1/87, thought it may be a bit small, so never built it, wish there were more readily available 1/72 train models, there maybe, I’m just unfamiliar with that whole side of the hobby.

Thanks. The locomotive is a Schools Class. The Dapol kits are OO scale, so perfect for 1/72. I’ve looked at the Trumpeter kits as they look very good but hadn’t realised they were 1/87 (that’s HO scale in model railway speak). The Dapol kits are much cheaper but much older and probably nowhere near as detailed.

Did a bit more research, they also do 3 1/72 kits, I think those came out after the 1/87 ones, I might pick up one of those Dapol kits, about half the price of the trumpeter ones.

So much to like on this thread - I think the Chinese trucks are my favourite but the station and the Tiger IIs are both great as well, very jealous mate.

I had one die cast truck left over and wasn't sure what to do with it. I'm working on a campaign for the Chindits and that will need a few Japanese trucks so I thought I could paint up this one imagining it is a captured or requisitioned civilian truck in Burma. Just did a simple paint job in Khaki and added a driver.

More for the Japanese in the shape of a Type 92 Chi Ha Shinhoto (the later model of the Chi Ha with the larger turret and 47mm gun). This one in resin from the 172 Miniatures range:

This Type 89B is a rather nice plastic kit from IBG which includes photo etch parts:

Lastly, this is a Precise Ho-Ni that I picked up very cheaply on eBay many years ago at the same time I bought a few of their Ha Go. From what I understand the Precise range was designed to be sold as part of a magazine or something similar but that never evenuated despite the fact the models had been manufactured. They went out cheaply on eBay as a result, but I now see they are fetching higher prices. Nothing very special - they came pre-painted and virtually fully assembled bar a few pieces but do suffer from thin, rubber tracks. They only saw action in the Philippines late in the war but I thought I might as well paint it while I'm doing other Japanese tanks.

And altogether:
