Very nice, as always, and having seen your work on the delivery trucks, I think I am going to take a punt on some Matchbox Yesteryear models for my 28mm. I believe they should be around 1/50.

Now that we are playing the Ruckzug campaign for Chain of Command I thought it would be good to have a few broken down German vehicles as scatter terrain. Obviously plenty of other uses too. I've had this Roden Opel Blitz Omnibus in the stash for a little while with a project like this in mind. So nothing like a campaign or a game to revive a project. I particularly liked the option to have the bonnet open and the engine revealed, it fits the narrative of the abandoned, broken down vehicle very well and will certainly fit the theme of the Ruckzug campaign.







While I was at it I had a Kubelwagen that came as a free 'extra' with a Dragon PzIV, so finished that off too.

The Ruckzug campaign continues to drive the completion of a few outstanding projects. The British may need a little more help in the way of high explosive and so I thought I'd better provide Dave, my opponent, with more options. The first is a Sexton. This is resin and I can't recall who makes it. It's not the cleanest casting I've seen and at first I was very unimpressed but it's amazing what a coat of paint can do. Also, before anyone asks, no I am not basing my vehicles - this resin cast comes complete with base and it's far too much effort to remove it. The crew are a few spare Plastic Soldier Company figures although at some stage I'd like to upgrade them with something from AB.







Secondly there is a Bofors 40mm gun. In the later stages of the war this often saw service in a ground support role. That said, the crew are from AB and as you might expect for a crew from an 'AA' gun, they are looking skyward! The gun itself is the old Airfix kit.





I also have one for my Americans but in this case the gun is a Zvezda kit.

Very nice, not sure I know any 20mm manufacturers who do cast on bases, I would be sticking that thing on the belt sander

Love the bus that is awesome and really good to see something a little different. You need a chap working on the engine with his head under the hood. Maybe his sleeves rolled up and showing some grease on his arms...

A very quick job here. I needed a Centaur or a Cromwell IV or VI with a 95mm gun as a close support version. I had a left over Armourfast Cromwell that I had made up and was messing around with placing stowage on the back using various spares and Milliput. It was primed and ready for paint but I decided to do a rather rough and ready barrel swap using a spare 95mm barrel left over from the PSC Churchill set. The way it is mounted in the mantlet is not quite right and lacks some finesse, but I think it will do the trick.

Well, that put an idea in my head. I have a set of tank crew figures from Orion that include several in overalls. While no one is leaning into the engine I rather liked the idea of a bunch of mechanics who've given up hope of getting the bus back on the road. I painted up these three and put them on a separate base giving the option to have them there or not. It may be taking the idea of scatter terrain a bit too far, but what the heck, it looks good!
