While I haven't been making much in 20mm for the Second World War the good news (for me at least) is that I have been playing a lot. I've been posting updates in a separate thread here on LAF about our Ruckzug campaign, but I've also introduced a new player to CoC and we've been playing the Kampfgruppe Von Luck campaign.
In one of those games the Germans had a Lorraine Schlepper and the 150mm gun managed to collapse a building. As we had to replay on that table due to a German defeat I needed to substitute the building for a ruin. I have a few but none that would fit the footprint for this particular table. As you can never have enough ruins (or trees, it seems) I thought I'd do a quick scratch build that matched the footprint exactly.
Using foam core, coffee stirrers, cat litter and all the usual bits and pieces for this sort of build I made the ruins including a detachable bit of rubble so that I can keep it versatile.

I then painted it up to match the colour palette of the building that was destroyed.

As it happened the Germans failed to take this table at the second attempt too which entailed a third game, so the ruins were well worth the effort.

Not only that, I managed to find a use for it in the fourth of our Ruckzug campaign games as well.
