you’ve done a great job of retaining the aesthetic of the GW imperial navy while adding your own touch
Thank you, that kinda was the goal :)

Also a new one: a trustworthy merchant. ("Trustworthy".)

They do like to multiply don’t they? Looking good as ever- I love the variety of bits too.

My little dungeon. It started as hand painted paper tiles:

I put those on black cardboard bases (the size was designed to be 147*147mm, to fit the Necromunda tiles)

But then I wanted some more 3D, so I did the whole set again, now out of mdf. 3 layers of 2,5mm:

I added some sand and painted them.

The full set for now, I plan to add lots of specialist tiles too.

Sorry, I quite like the second version!

Perhaps on the 3d version, try making the rooms a bit lighter brown, and the walls a bit more black (basically more like the second version)

I think the only thing missing on the third version is some build up and detail in the edges or walls. The floor looks great with the 3-D flocking you did. Just need to match the walls with similar style. I know if it is a solid wall, you technically wouldn't see detail through its entire thickness, but it would blend together better. In my opinion...  :D

The base texture and colour (black+brown drybrush+white drybrush) was selected because it matches the basing of my Imperial factions (and most 1/35 ones I also will use this for). For the future tiles I will add more detail, this is just the starter set. The original colour of the 2D was a lot more intense, its colour faded away during the scanning+printing.

The thing about the black is true, the problem is that the balck I use for corrections is matt to the level of being dark grey, it really differs from the spray basecoating black. I used some semigloss vanish to bring them together, it helped a lot, here you can see all four versions next to each other
-the original painting
-the 2D dungeon
-the 3D one shown
-the 3D with the satin coat. Black is back :)

Yes, higher walls would make it better, but I can not afford it storage space-wise. I will add raised wall sections for detailing, but the standard tile will be this 5mm height.

Two pics from its first battle, it was used as an access tunnel for a Chaos-infested underhive section.

Here my favourite scene from the battle, in the previous rounds I collected some serious loot which was almost all ammo (granting an extra action in my rules). So it was like the finale scene of The Wild Bunch, machine gun guy (down left) just pulled the trigger until everyone in the room was mowed down.

No, he is more like the "One-two-ten-hahahahahahahah, keep the change you filthy animal" type of guy.

Yes, by dungeon building I always look for the aurea mediocritas between storability, setupability, playability and aesthetics, this seems like a good solution for now. The wooden tiles are also less prone for accidental moves like the paper ones.
For the moving I do not even need tape measure, as you can see, the Necromunda tiles have roughly 2*2inch quares, and my tiles could also be taken as each of them being essentially a 3*3 grid of 2*2 inch squares: left, middle, right, without actually painting the grid on. So I use the following rule: for the even number part of your movement in inches you can move half the squares, if the Movement is an odd number, for the extra 1" you can move an extra square, but you stop at the nearest edge of the square, you can not move into the cover there for example. LOS, ranges, etc then is normally measured with a tape or stick if needed.
