Building a fantasy bakery
« on: January 29, 2023, 02:43:45 PM »
Starting another project build for my warmer not ruined version of Felstead for Frostgrave.  Last time I did an apothecary shop https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=135288.0  For this build I am doing a bakery.  I started with the bread because I wanted it to look like they are making it on a semi industrial scale.  I did ten Roman style loaves in milliput and then made an instamold press mold of them.  These were cast as many times as possible over about a week.  I painted them individually becasue I would not have been able to do it if they were glued in place.  The ones below have not been placed and might be saved for a future project.

Next is furniture.  It is all built using matt board, stencil paper coffee stirrers and matchsticks.  Bits and pieces are from a variety of manufactures and some 3d printed parts.
Shelving

Bits and pieces of clutter.

Hand grinding stone and a work table.  The grinding stone was made using a 1p and 2p coin with some putty on top.

Here is the empty interior so far.

After I finish the roof, painting and gluing the set dressing in I will liberally apply white weathering powders to simulate the flour that would go everywhere in a place like this.
Hope you like.

Not satisfied with merely participating in the Build Something contest  lol lol Kidding aside this looks great. As in your apothecary build, I really like the palette.

This is awesome. I've been wracking my brain to figure out how to get my wife to let me build a book nook (she loves cooking) so this is exactly what I can do

Aw this is brilliant!   Combining two favourite things…scratching terrain and BREAD!   What’s not to love?

Very cool.  Though I admit scratching my head what a bakery is going to do with that shovel?  :?  Especially like the bit of dough rising.

Thanks for the kind words all.

The shovel will be for coal.  What you can't see in the photos is the firebox on the side of the oven.  I have to redo the roof as the foamex warped when I stabilized the sand on the roof.  I tried to do too much in one go and the superglue generated way too much heat.

I am almost done.  Need to sort out some soot on the chimney and oven.  It will also need a sign and some exterior weathering.
Big thank you to Tarnegol for the baby powder suggestion as my other attempts for flour did not work well.  It seems to be adhering well with the thin coats of matte sealer.

Now you need a brewery to go with it...
