This is amazing progress on getting miniatures ready to play a campaign! And they look great too!

Very inspirational - I have my copy of the rules, and have been looking to put appropriate teams of figures together, but seeing you get them up and ready to go is brilliant.

I am looking forward very much to seeing some battle reports, if you get time to put some together.

Plynkes, I have been combing through old painted stuff and rebasing, which has cut the time down considerably. The brigands in brown and the skeletons are the only two units I've painted specifically for this game. However, I do have about another four units ready for painting, hopefully we can get gaming whilst I do these.

Cheers, MysteryMachine. The plan is to put all our reports here plus using the diary to maintain the story.

I found some old Gondorians and have rebased them. I think they will do well for quite a few enemy units; Deserter Squad, Time-Lost Warriors, Fey Soldiers or Knights, Torn Flags and Forsaken Elite.

Create a warband (or two) and start tracking down figures! 5L uses unusual races and "classes" (eg. birdmen, zealots). The follower's description means you get to use some NPC miniatures in your warband! You can definitely do the usual proxy, of course.

I'm not used to elves being upset (: but love the Elven Queen. Archon's Deuslair KS (two days left) has some rather unseelie fae that I guess I'll find useful.

Glad I backed Reaper's Bones way-back-when and got the Dreadmere expansion, as it has various disreputable and down-and-out types who fit the followers I rolled up in my warband. Thankfully, have some birdmen and catfolk from Bones III, but they're of an Asian bent. At least they're the Outsider class, so I can add some Asian background to the narrative.

This site has an interactive map of D&D's Faerun, including town histories and descriptions.

Many thanks, ced1106 (that interactive map is superb) and blacksoilbill.

We've seen a lot of the enemy, so now it's time to have a look at some of our heroes. Two of our heroes (Thorvald the Skald and Tiffany Aching) are away, on a secret mission. In the meantime, our other two heroes have made their way to the Pilchard Inn, on the quay in Fiddling-cum-Nicely. They've heard it's a fine place for recruiting followers. Sure enough they have selected two likely-lads.

Here we have from left to right, Hugh Pugh, his twin brother Lew Pugh, Ilsa von Spanckwürst, Warrior Princess and Bara Brith ap Cyffylliog, an archer with druidic connections.

More about their history to come...

Crikey - that’s my first sighting of Ilsa….! I say again, crikey…!

A big welcome to Hugh and Lou. I’m sure we can promise them adventure, excitement, lots of laughs and masses of treasure. Well, maybe not the treasure.

Exactly, steady on, old bean!   :o

If one were allowed access to the campaign diary of these adventuring heroes, one would find in the back pages, that some anonymous scribe had composed a brief history of our legendary heroes. Herewith, the first taster, concerning the doings of Bara Brith ap Cyffylliog:

...and then some pages devoted to Ilsa von Spanckwürst, Warrior Princess:

Bara Brith ap Cyffylliog and Ilsa von Spanckwürst seem a stout pair of warriors, Thorvald the Skald is looking forward to a prosperous partnership and amassing a small or maybe a large fortune in their company.

Thanks all. We have a 'character creation' session scheduled for tomorrow via Google Meet. This could mean the two introductory scenarios suggested in the rules, will take place the week after.

In the meantime, another delve into the small print at the back of the campaign diary reveals the traumatic and disturbing story of Thorvald the Skald. Those among you of a nervous disposition, should look away now!
