...does a relatively complete wargame need new rules or books to keep it going?

Not to derail the thread, but the "supported game" argument is a whole thread in its own.  I do understand a company not "completing" a line of models which would make playing the game easier - but I've never given a shart about a game being "supported".

Basically this...

I've been on a bit of nostalgia trip lately with 2nd ed 40K, and I love the fact that it's 'done', in the sense that there will not be any more additions. No need to fear that there will be a new edition that you 'have' to get in order to play, or get this or that expansion; just a fixed set of rules that is complete and ready to play, warts and all. And the same goes for other legacy systems, such as Warzone, 1999, Confrontation and many more.

They're like the Latin or Visual Basic of the gaming world. They're 'dead', but fully functional as they are. And the way you write them down is up to you; a quill, fountain pen, typewriter, PC or smart phone. Same with closed/finished/abandoned rulesets: play them as is, with any scale and/or miniatures you fancy... :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Well I'm assuming it was an end of licensing thing that meant the IHMN figures (North Star and Osprey) have now been 'rebranded' as North Star Steampunk. So I wouldn't assume that if the Oathmark license/agreement does end it wouldn't mean the figures disappear, that seems like a pretty rubbish deal given the amount of investment needed to create plastic kits in the first place.

Similarly, I'm not sure how much weight the Oathmark brand does have, given that by all appearances it doesn't seem to have been as popular a set of rules as Frostgrave for example. I suspect they could be repackaged pretty effectively as a generic, quite comprehensive, range of great plastic wargaming figures.

Saying that, what do I know.

I really hope we get full plastic undead range. Loving the bronze age theme, and the Oathmark skeletons are my favourite on the market (I own pretty much everything for undead starting with Warhammer 4th edition). Plastic chariots in the style of Oathbreakers artwork would be marvelous :o

The pre-orders will end 27th November, and we'll ship ASAP after that which might run into early December.

TBH, if we can ship out before the pre-release end date, we will do.

Cheers
Nick

Oathmark

I’m not allowed to say much about this, but there are ongoing discussions…

So hopeful for more stuff (admittedly it is not as though I not enough stuff to build, base, paint already - such as the Elf cavalry I just ordered...).

Wargames News and Terrain has a preview of the forthcoming Human Light Infantry.

This is going to be a bumper year for Oathmark. We plan to release at least three new Plastic box sets, the Human Militia/ Rangers, the Orc Heavy Infantry and the Elf Heavy Infantry. All three will come with metal characters as normal.

The human militia/rangers were previewed in the Northstar Newsletter email. Really keen to see pics of the Orc and Elf heavy infantry. Any one know when pics of these will be available?

Thank you all for taking time out to read this, we'll have new stuff to show you next time, hopefully the first pictures of the Oathmark Heavy Orc Infantry,...

It is not clear if this is a plastic set.

Ooo I missed that, well spotted sir.

I assume it'll be plastic like the Heavy Dwarf Infantry.

Had missed that as well. Definitely will be a plastic set, we should be getting heavy elves and humans at some point as well.

I’m looking forward to the heavy orcs, they’ll encourage me to shift back to building my 28mm orc army! Even more kitbashing options on the horizon…
