It's not a handgun. Though you could do a quick conversion. It's a pair of snips, the figure is a Norn from the Norse section.

The set includes Fenris which you could use as a Prowler, and a Valkyrie. I did think what you could use the Valkyrie for. Maybe a Beguiler, but I think it'd suit being a Guardian Spirit.

The other peasants: https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=12070
These three are great for AWT. The main power that has returned to Earth in AWT is the triple goddess. This pack for Dracula's America represents the triple goddess for that game.

Yes they are perfect, got them saved, thank you.  And the Maiden, Mother, Crone triple goddess inclusion in lore is perfect to me.

Question -- if providing everything for my opponent to play, is having a 2nd tarot deck helpful, or likely not necessary?

My parcel is on my way, and after learning a bit more about the rules I'm kind of leaning toward adding in some British as well.
I have the option of picking up and other special bundle direct from NorthStar, or I could just get the platoon.

Thanks.

EDIT -- as of this a.m., the British bundle is sold out. But I could still grab a 2nd tarot pack. Thanks in advance for any info.

The cards function more as a memory aid than anything else, they certainly aren’t critical to play! If you and your opponent chose different hermetic lodges (the game’s version of a magical lore) then you could even share the same pack.

We took the bundle off sale because we weren't sure we could supply them anymore. But we can do one or two more so they are back on sale.

that's very kind of you -- but that is ok! I'm going to get it from a U.S. Distributor that is supporting the game. I have access to a platoon, the deck, even the ruined ship terrain. I won't get the captain or sprue but that is fine.
Cheers and thanks!

I received the rule book a couple of days ago - it is a tome! Much thicker than I was expecting, and filled with loads of content.

I’m busily reading and trying to digest the rules, was planning a bit of a solo play through last night, but was knackered from a week at work, and ended up just watching the rugby.

A couple of queries from my initial reading:
Shooting
Difficult shots (which is when the shooter has moved, is in long range, or target is largely obscured). This gives a hit on a 1 only. This seems to favour units with Low martial skill - as they were only hitting on a 1 or 2 with no modifiers and even with all 3 now they just hit on a 1.
Couple of questions on this - as may be something you looked at in earlier versions.
1) Any reason why each of the category of difficult shots doesn’t give Disadvantage 1 to shooting?
2) If you reach hitting on a 1 on a d6 and get a further Disadvantage wouldn’t it be better to move to hitting on a 1 on d10, rather than the rule of 1 always succeeds?

Orders
3) Infiltrators and Vanguard (p95) both of these say set a unit up within 12 or 14” of the enemy. Is this correct? So I could setup a unit right next to an enemy unit? Contrast with the wording of the Vanguard keyword on p109 which is not within 12” of the enemy.

4) Any chance of a PDF version being made available - really feeling I could do to search the text to find references to certain concepts?

5) Is a Quick Ref sheet available?

Thanks!

I did not see a reference to The Thing in the Wire...

Scary stuff (and an interesting modelling project).

Army lists question
In AWT, what does a Lewis Gun count as?

I originally thought it was an LMG, but British units do not have them as an option (page 124).
Do they count as automatic rifleman?

That was my thought. I think the LMG upgrade represents weapons like the MG08 in its bipod setup. I’ve not read the all the keywords to work out how these differ from each other in game terms.

And another question,
I have just realised the weapon entries for units does not include all the relevant keywords (you have to look them up on page 218-9), but the classification of heavy mortars and field guns as small arms seemed a bit odd. Am I right in thinking this is just to indicate they cannot harm armoured targets?

If the weapon is Devastating, does it inflict CSM on an Armoured target?

So before answering the questions individually, a quick note on shooting - yes, the way that the rules for difficult shoots would work out favouring low martial skill units, but there aren’t any units with low martial skill that are armed with ranged weapons, which is deliberate! High MS units are also fair more likely to have keywords and skills which mitigate the the various difficult shot modifiers, such as swift or trick shot

1) So shooting initially was far more complex, with modifiers etc. it felt unwieldy and it got very confusing fast! It was also completely at odds with the way that combat works, which was comparatively very simple. I made the decision that keeping things easy to use and to remember would speed up play and help make the game more accessible.
2) yes, it probably would! That said I wanted to keep the “heavy” weapons, with templates etc quite separate in style from the small arms and giving each their own distinct dice for tests felt like a good way to do that.
3) one for the errata sheet I think! Infiltrators should say “but not within 12 inches” - the key difference between vanguard and infiltrators is that vanguard troops need to be on your side of the table, but there is no such restriction for infiltrators.
4) that is some thing will need to be taken up with the publishers I’m afraid - not a decision I can make!
5) watch this space, a QRS is on the way!

The divide between Automatic rifles/LMGs is a bit of a fudge - I figure that the magazine on the Lewis made it a little bit easier to handle on the go than the MG08/15, especially as it was some way lighter, so I lumped it in with the Chauchat which is of a comparable weight.

Yes, it is slightly imperfect terminology but it is just indicates that they do not cause damage to vehicles.

They don’t no - all weapons with devastating are also small arms and so don’t inflict damage to armoured targets. As they can’t wound armoured targets, no devastating test is caused!
