Interesting. I’m a huge 10/12mm fan, and was really excited when the Victrix range was announced - but I have bought very little of it, as the cost per model is higher than in metal, and for most of the vehicle kits there is very little variety or options on the sprues. Eg the Pz IVs come with schuzen moulded on.

Compared with PSC 15mm kits which come with huge numbers of options the Victrix ones seem really limited.

I can't say I'm overly enthused with the pricing, but they're doing the things I wish PSC/Battlefront would do.  I agree that their basic tank kits (particularly the earliest ones) are pretty mediocre, but stuff like the T-34 kit looks pretty solid.

It's great to see actual guns with transports and varying crew (both Afrika, and basic), etc. in a single box.  Much the way Battlefront did things long before they went tournament/GW style.

Their T-34 kit makes both the normal 76.2, and the 85mm versions and includes tank riders, a nice touch.

Their infantry kits include a ton of stuff (officers, MGs, light anti-tank weapons, etc.) and you'd probably only need one box since they come with 196 figures a pop, etc.  Most of their kits even include decals - something PSC and Battlefront no longer do.

Not saying they're perfect by any margin, but I like the direction they're headed.  Again, prices aren't grand...but "okay", and I'd alway take plastics over metals when given a choice.  I think they have a long way to go before the range is complete enough, but if you can sub-in some other stuff, even some 3D prints, it would have definitely tempted me over 15mm.

Yes, fair point about the newer kits - those 88s are tempting me (although I probably already have 6) - they are starting to add the flexibility that a lot of the PSC (15mm) kits have.

The Victrix infantry have always had great variety to the packs. In practice I have found there are a few too many prone poses, and the poses are a bit 2D. But they paint up quickly and look good on the table.

Sorry to hijack the thread,

Love the Victrix stuff.
But who makes vehicles close to the 12mm scale?
Do I look for companies that make BIG 10mm stuff or the opposite to that and companies who make small 15mm??
 lol

Thanks

Within the scale, Victrix would have a closer relationship with 10mm manufacturers ….. definitely not 15mm.

You want to look for 1/144. Pendraken are revamping much of their line and these new models are slightly larger, matching Victrix well.

I blogged some comparisons if they are of interest. LINK

What Norm says, Pithead are probably the closed match for vehicles, along with newer Pendraken stuff.

Figure wise Victrix are much the same height as Pendraken and Pithead, but both are bulkier.

15mm stuff would be enormous in comparison.

If you can find any of the Dragon Can Do 1/144 range  for a decent price, they should fit
nicely. Unfortunately, their prices are on the rise.

Thanks for that; I’ve been looking for 12mm to go with Victrix as well.

Anschluss seem to promising as well - https://anschlusswargames.com/

And the other day I scored 150ish packs of Minifigs (GFI USA) WW2 12mm for a stunning $1, Canadian, a pack. Quite a lot of Russians, Germans, Japanese, and a smattering of other stuff. Even five aircraft - a P40, Italian Macchi (?), a Zero, P-51C, and a Spitfire MkIX.

Which also reminded me that Flames of War aircraft are out of scale for their game, but happen to be N scale. So hunt some of those down. Stukas, Hs129, and Sturmovik are on my list now.

I’m working towards a Stalingrad campaign. I previously built the grain elevator at 1:285, so I can replicate in 1:160 nicely. Track for the area around and junker trains should be much easier to find too. Z scale for 1:285 (not perfect) was OBSCENELY expensive.
