There are sheets of Perspex that sit on the front; put there to stop the cats stealing figures off the shelves, but also keeps the dust out. Most of my figures are multi based, but transport isn’t an issue, they pretty much only get used in my games room at home. I do have a wooden case with subdivisions which can be used to transport armies when required.

I store all my 28mm in plastic boxes - foot units go into A4 storage boxes



These are clear - keep the dust out and the best part they are dirt cheap

Cavalry, Pikes etc go into larger deeper boxes

Do you mind me asking where you got those boxes? They are perfect for a lot of my minis.

I got back into wargaming in 1995 so 30 years ago (ish) - I have sold a number of painted collections off over the years - probably another 1500 figures...

And as Steve Burt has just commented, you can see that  6-7,000 is small compared to some people!

Apparently I need to up my numbers, mine are rookie numbers compared to that! I did go through a hiatus in my teens/early twenties where I got rid of ALL of my stuff... very much regretting it now. I wont be doing that again.

I use a lot of different boxes (mainly fishing tackle boxes or photo boxes) but am experimenting with acrylic.  These are stackable acrylic boxes my wife got somewhere and then decided not to use.  So I appropriated them for my current project.





It keeps the dust out and allows me to easily see what is inside.  Just have to make sure they are sitting straight to avoid upper ones dropping into a lower one.

You could put steel sheeting or magnetic sheeting in the bottom if desired, but would loose some visibility.

I use a variety of different types of boxes but I’ve started moving to RUBs for supplies and some miniatures and I think that I’ll keep using them as my new collections increase in size.

These look great. They would fit under or next to my desk and could have a drawer/drawers per army type of thing.

The mahogany drawers were made by my father.
He taught joinery and wood machining.
They are 38mm deep so a inch and a half.

not using the rack thing currently - takes up more space than its useful for 

previously was useful when had them stacked elsewhere but current location better without frame.
