I received my copy of "A War Transformed: WWI on the Doggerland Front" today. I enjoyed flipping through the pages. I am not a rules fanatic/buff/geek/expert, so I cannot comment on the playability of the game, but I really like the setting and the fluff.
The only thing I missed in the book were pictures of nicely converted and painted miniatures. I understand that rule "makers" are not necessarily into minis. But I think it would have been a nice addition. That said, the lack of pictures is not a deal breaker. They would just have been the icing on the already delicious cake.
However, as a native German, I had a good laugh when I read the German Empire section, especially the entry on the witch hunters. It literally says H
axenjäger. It does so repeatedly, so it is not a one-off typo. The problem is that in German it is H
exenjäger ... a "Haxe", which we also have in German, is a "pig's knuckle". So litterally the book has "pig knuckle hunters" as a line unit for the German Empire.
It may not be funny to everyone, but it certainly made my day ...
