Its probably where I got my inspiration from!

I love the little pin head guys...!  :D lol

I did something similar using wooden craft pieces from the hobby store and extra weapons and such (for the melee bots).

I can't wait to see your reports from your games...!

Here is the mutants I painted for SSZ. They are 15mm mutants from Alternative armies and great figures with lots of character and only a few double ups on figures poses.

I wanted them to look like ex Starship crew so I painted them still wearing the remnants of their uniforms of white and turquoise, and the odd red shirted victim. These came out better than my crew figures so far who lack contrast on some of the colours and could be black lined better.

That's a nice colour scheme, it really works.

Here's my first batch of GZG bots - I'll use them as medical bots in SSZ, hence the red and white colours. they are very nice little sculpts and pretty quick to paint.

Also I have created 3D printed bases with recesses in them for the figure base to go in, so I can get a smooth and flat surfaces. Its a bit of extra work but I liked the completed bases. I draw on different lines and circles to represent the flooring and then weather the base and add some chipping with a sponge. I'll match the floor color of my board with the same colour to help bring it together.

Neat project! The medical bots look quite good and your basing does the job well. I have struggled sometimes to do flat bases like those, so I like your approach.

I got back from my winter holiday and here are the swarm bots which featured on page 1 of this thread. I used a few different decals to break up the smooth areas of the bots as it was pretty hard to highlight the main sphere. I was also experimenting with different camera settings and the photo came out a bit grainy  :-I

Love them! Yours turned out much better than mine...!  :-*

I need to get back to doing this instead of immediately rushing out to buy some lead. I like wandering the craft store and seeing what I can put together for something I need for a project!  :D

Those swarm bots are superb: great concept and brilliant paintjob really sells it.

Using decals works just fine ! You could also have use battle damage with blister foam to break the large spheric surface.

I'm returning to this project after a long absence. I have been working away on some bits but my motivation dropped as I struggled to paint the figures as well as I would like. I tried to paint them like 28mm figures but that doesn't work, so I am still experimenting. Meanwhile I painted these GZG bots as they were nice and easy.

And I've done some more on the Space Station Zero board. I removed the dividers and I've used some mdf pieces from Iliada Studio for the flooring and some extra MDF frame pieces left over from 28mm buildings (I found the MDF frame pieces from 4Ground etc extremely useful for scratch building).

The end pieces are removeable so the the sides can slide back into the tray

I added some walls to the end pieces although its not very clear in the picture. I've left a gap around the edges to decorate the walls but I'll paint the floor first.

Thanks

Ah, memories, I painted that chap back in 2011. Only a mere 14 years ago...my kids weren't even born then! I feel old now.

Loving your set up of the board, highly inspirational. I picked up the game as well as I have 15mm and 28mm scifi stuff anyway. I'll be coming around here more often in the future to steal ideas, so keep it up :)
