I laid on a game of Lunar at Deal Wargames Club this week, the scenario involved a broken down Soviet Moonbuggy that was carrying some Lithium ore samples. The Cosmonauts were on their way to repair and recover, unfortunately, NASA had the same idea!
The playing area

The opposing sides, both teams had a Commander, a Technician to repair the buggy and a Combat Specialist in case things got nasty...........which of course they did.

Both teams advanced on the buggy but the Soviets get there first, Igor, the techie, got the buggy started but a hard blow from a NASA geology hammer was it conk out again.

A general shooting match then started, both Combat Specialists were armed with rifles and the Commanders had a Markham pistol each, plus a resin patch pack each, in case of any nasty accidents involving spacesuits.
The Soviet Commander went down as his suit had taken four hits, followed by his technician, luckily he used the patch kit to get himself fixed up and then repair the technicians suit. The NASA Commander went down due to some accurate fire from the Combat Specialist but again, his resin patch was put to good use and he was back in the fight.

The NASA techie was then shot in the back, falling dead to the regolith, the NASA Commander then shot the Soviet Commander who joined the NASA techie, read on the ground.
The Soviets managed to take advantage of the situation and got the buggy started, snatching an ore box up as they did before driving off to safety.
The American player had no hope of stopping the buggy as they were out of ammo so they snatched up the remaining ore boxes and headed back to their moonbase, the remaining Cosmonaut, weapon empty, made his way back to his Zvezda 13 base.
Both fatalities would have to be recovered later, a minor victory for the Soviets due to the loss of their leader, Moscow would be furious!

It was a fun game to play, ammo is very limited so any shots require some thought, the battle for the buggy got very tense but the Soviet player was able to shove the NASA techie far enough away to enable a swift escape, Lunar will be returning to the club again soon.
