BTR-60 in 1/48 or 1/50 scale?
« on: 28 October 2024, 03:18:09 PM »
I am looking for BTR-60 in 1/48 or 1/50 scale for wargaming. Ideally diecast but I guess I cannot afford to be picky  :)

Grateful for any advice!

Funny you should mention this.  A hobby shop in the next town up from me has Russian diecast BTR60s in 1/43 (at decent prices).  I keep meaning to take some figures there to see if they "look right". but haven't managed to yet.

They look like these (they also have BRDM2s, SU-100s, and 100mm AT guns):  https://jbarhobbies.com/products/25035

Mikro Mir, a Ukrainian company makes BTR-60s in 1/48. They are a little fiddly being full kits but look rather nice. You can generally find them in stock on the bigger model shops like HLJ, Hannants and BNA.

Butlers Printed Models make 'em in 1/48. They'll be more expensive than the models and unless you get a resin print, look fairly ghastly. There are also one or two sellers on Etsy producing 1/48 BTRs and if you own your own printer, there are even more options.

Rubicon produce them in 1/56, not the scale you prefer but close. Likewise Sloppy Jalopy make a 1/56 BTR-60 PB

There are also one or two 1/43 diecasts out there. The 1/43 Modimio version is one but they aren't cheap and are out of scale. If you fancy that 1/43 works for you then look for the AVD version. These are multi media models, with a dieast hull that you essentially screw together. About half the price of the finished diecast kits although, naturally you have to assemble and paint them yourself.

Oh and there's a BobMack print coming out via Kickstarter if you can wait. As these often get picked up by printinng companies as commercial licences, I'd expect to see them in a few months. The BobMack prints are simply the pick of the punch for 3D resin, superb detail and well engineered,
