Saw that this morning on another site.

Truly sad, he was a nice guy above and beyond being a hobby legend.

Very sad. Fond memories of his era as WD editor.

Sad to hear.  The only thing I'm glad of is that he was diagnosed early enough for his friends/family to understand what was coming and prepare accordingly.

I've been reading old White Dwarf articles and battle reports, and he was a stalwart in the 90's there.

RIP Mr Sawyer  :'(

I loved White Dwarf best back when he was running it.

I made bacon butties in his honour today...

I tried to comment on this earlier, but found that I couldn't.
So, here goes.

There are no words, but I just hope that he is playing wargames, drinking ale and eating bacon butties in the wargames valhalla.

Farewell Mr. Sawyer "AKA Fat Bloke" it was an honour reading your versions of White Dwarf, in what was indeed the Golden Period of that magazine.

RIP

A sad loss, I will always remember him being the White Dwarf editor, the bacon rolls, and the contributions to our great hobby. RIP Sir.

He really did sound like a fun bloke. Usually I'm sick of seeing the same social media reposts over and over, but it's been heart-warming the number of times I've seen people mention him.

I've been meaning to go on a 90s white dwarf binge, this may prompt it.

Very sad times.

The Dwarf was at its best with him at the helm, his passion for the fun of the hobby really shone through his articles, and while Warlord's range isn't something that interests me, I'm sure those there have also benefitted from his enthusiasm and humour.

I may paint a lone White Scar in tribute.
Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever
