Jungle Cruise movie buildings?
« on: 02 May 2025, 01:04:39 AM »
Jungle Cruise buildings?  From the movie?  Or something similar?  Nilo's boathouse?  And the big building - where the chase to rescue the girl occurred?

Here is an image:

Harder to see but this image has the boat house:

I have some buildings that might work but wondering what else might be out there.  Think it would be a cool setting for some games.

So, ideas?  15 mm of course.

And thanks!

It would certainly be harder to beat the Gold Rush Bay model linked in the Gorillas Go Bananas thread for the main house.  For other buildings, bamboo buildings on stilts would fit as destinations along the river.

Sarissa has a Far East bundle.  There's a number of STL sets out there too.  The stilted Far East type buildings would fit right in along the Amazon too, depending on where you want to designate "The River".

WOW buildings did a War in the East KS which has lots of buildings including a a Lake Village set, Manila destroyed buildings and a Medina set. I have been going back through STL files from KS that I entered and have just printed some very nice French townhouses without any supports. I was very impressed with the quality of the files.

While others may take value from the pointers towards STL files and MDF buildings - I am not a fan of MDF and I don't have nor want a printer so only preprints are really of interest to me personally; well, resin or other affordable plastics might work.  But feel free to add options for others without my barriers.

And, Cat, absolutely those buildings in the Gorilla thread are as close as I know of but it can't hurt to seek out whatever else might be out there.  Hard as we may search, there is always that elusive item(s) we have no awareness of that we wish we did.  Oh, and I discovered there is a desert stable that I might track down after my budget recovers from recent purchases - along with a couple of other items I know Tabletop Terrain already have in their catalog.

Oh, and I do have some structures on stilts (3D prints and a plastic Airfix(?) kit) that I can add in and I might also order a few items from Peter Pig - for Asia (Jungle) and maybe some of the AK47 buildings like the various shanty structures.

And in my hunting, I found out that the 'town' was built on a reservoir in Hawaii with much of the rest shot on a studio backlot in Georgia, USA.

As to the characters in the movie, there are several it would be fun to find but the one I would most like is the lady portraying Trader Sam in that lovely hat.   Also the waitress in the jaguar in the restaurant scene.  :D

Ah, but STL files that are sold in sets often pop up printed on Etsy.  If you find a set you like, search for the set name + Etsy.  Or google various keywords +3D + Etsy.

I was browsing awhile ago for stilted 15mm houses, here's one I came across:

That's a nice village, Cat, but clearly meant for the Viking era - see the shields on the boats (also, saw it previously somewhere else 'advertised' as a Viking Village).

The houses on stilts links were more of interest.

I hadn't spotted the viking shields.  But those are definitely not viking houses.  Unexpected mash-up there!

I went back and the Viking Village I saw had actual Viking era buildings but the one you linked to is very late medieval so the Vikings do seem a bit out of place - but I suppose such a boat might still have been in use beyond the traditional "Viking Age".

The Jungle Cruise set looks like a mashup of colonial and native (?) styles, you could use Spanish or Italian buildings for part of it and generic Far East/Pacific village for the surrounding area.

that is definitely a mash up - the terrain is very suitable for pirates, the ships not so much.
