I think there are new box sets of Legion coming in fall, at discount. Read that rumour somewhere. The amount off was pretty substantial to encourage large force (pun!) building.

Check out Reaper minis.  They have a nice variety of reasonably priced sci-fi minis.

Also Wargames Atlantic Raumjäger Infantry make great rebel troopers and you can add some Stargrave heads for more variety.

I'd suggest the original WOTC Star Wars Battles figures which match very well. Some are slightly smaller  and others like the Rebel troopers are smaller again and dont mix as well.
