[Old Hob II]

Hi folks. It's been a little while. I hope you're all keeping well.

I haven't been particularly productive on the hobby front over the last 12 months. I've been very slowly plugging away at an Oldhammer project (which I'll share when it's nearer completion), but doing adult stuff has been getting in the way of toy soldiers. Bah! Anyway, for no particular reason I've recently painted some Eureka Miniatures' Chaos Army dudes that had been languishing in the lead pile. They were fun to do and I may paint some more. So, anyway, here's a new thread for any weird little mutants that I may or may not randomly paint.

They are Batface the Biter and Antonius Bartonius and his musical bellows.

Very cool, I noticed these on your blog, too! I like these a lot, and the Bosch-inspired figures in another thread- to me they really evoke a sense of chaos, where familiar things are combined in unsettling ways.

Thanks man. There's a fair few allegorical figures in the range, which are very cool, but not necessarily what I was after at the time. To tell the truth, I can't actually remember why I bought them now, but I'm glad I did. This was a welcome break from painting orange hobgoblins.

Thanks Hobgoblin. For the two muties above I started playing with the undercoating method you described on your blog back along (up to now I've been painting straight onto a matt black undercoat). I think it's definitely made a difference, adding depth and much easier on my poor old eyeballs. So thank you for that.
I currently have some Nick Lund hobs waiting dejectedly in the queue (along with a couple of ADD54 hobs kindly gifted by Pattus) while I've been off on a chaos side quest . I really should knuckle down and try to complete a project...

Love these. Wonderful painting! I've been eyeing this range up to do a unit of mutants for WFB - basically counts-as Marauders in a Chaos army. Are those on 25mm bases there? Have been unable to gauge what sort of size the figures are...

Yes, these are 25mm bases. The minis are quite chunky compared to my Oldhammer figures and some of them (Brood Hilda, Unstoppable Sal) are very tall. Still, that's mutants for you. I should have Sal painted next week, so I'll share some photos then to show what I mean.

Another Eureka Chaos Army dude. This one's Wilbur the Wild. The sculpt probably owes more to the broo than Bosch, but a lovely little mutant all the same.

And for Gibby. Sorry, I don't have any modern GW minis, but I've included 1980s hobgoblins for scale. I imagine, what with 30 years of scale creep, that the Eureka miniatures will probably work fine with modern sculpts.

Such a great range (and your painting). If I remember, I got to buy some before release visiting Eureka in person.

Pigman was funny to paint when I realised he isn't wearing pants, like Porky Pig!
