1/1200th & 1/3000th   You seem to have forgotten little areas of WW2 e.g.  Midway, Coral Sea, sink the Bismark etc etc. :)

20mm for land and 1/1800 for sea.

I never double up scales for a period - too many periods to collect!

Two.

20mm (1/72) by far and away the largest and most diverse part of the collection. Mainly used for platoon level actions.

12mm mainly Victrix for company/battalion level actions.

Also forgot Operation Warboard, though I only saw it as articles in a magazine: Airfix Modelling Magazine, was it?

At least, I think that was the same thing(?)

I think you may be confusing it with Battle by Charles Grant that appeared in Meccano magazine in a series before the book.
Op Warboard was a book hardback had tank, explosion and big hand, paperback pic of Gilder's WW2. Also appeared on telly in Battleground.

1/3000 Naval (RN vs Kriegsmarine and Atlantic Convoys for Naval War rules)
1/600 Bomber Command games with Target for Tonight
1/300 Ground War...all of it (at the moment excluding the US Island Hopping Campaign). At Panzer Korps/ Spearhead or Rommel level
1/76 LRDG and Z Men skirmish games with 5 Men in Normandy variants (not really a dedicated collection as only a few dozen figures left over from French Indochina War conversions)
Plus
1/48 if Weird WW2 counts (Scarab Mniatures and a lot of scratchbuilt/3D stuff)

No. I am familiar with Battle. This was another series for beginning wargamers.

I used to believe 1:285 was “the one true scale” as it gave massive perspective for WW2; I have since come to strongly dislike GHQ Models, and sold or threw away all my models in that scale. Now, I am looking at dabbling in 28mm, with the fabulous and expansive Perry Miniatures. I (frankly) dislike Warlord Games - the sculpts, the game, well, everything - so I will probably go with Chain of Command, a great and fun rules system for platoon level WW2.

It’s a simmering project.

Just German WWII, I had four scale. A 1 to 1 division for Jagpanzer. All GHQ 1/285th.
15mm Quality casting only a company of stuff, but different platoons of your usual, Tiger 1, Panther G.
20mm Russian plastic because you could buy 4 tanks to a box. Then bought some Plastic soldier company. Just over a company of US, Russian, and platoon of German.
28mm Only a Resin Tiger. Metal infantry.
Then I saw a video from tabletop minions on youtube, https://www.youtube.com/@tabletopminions where he was talking about if something happened to you who would have to deal with your stuff.
Great video. I sold my 1/285th, all my metal and resin 20mm.

I still got way to much stuff, but its only in one closet. If you ever had to go to a friends house after they passed. You will know the thinking.
Not to bum anyone, its life. As you get older, you lose your gaming friends.

I vaguely recall a series that used a gridded board with pictures including Merit trees.
It may have been in early Military Modelling magazine issues?

28mm, 1/35, 1/72, 1/48, and...1/6!!! lol

In order of numbers of pieces, 1/6 would top the chart.  I collected G.I. Joes and Dragon WW2 figures plus built a variety of vehicles back last century.

But for using in wargames 28mm is what I use.  I'd have to take it outside to wargame in 1/6 scale. BWAHAHAHAHA

Love reading the replies here, and knowing that I am not alone in dabbling all over in different scales and manufacturers. For me:

1/72
Very large collection of plastics, various makes, and all ground forces. A carryover from childhood modeling days, to which I have recently returned, with plans (stop snickering!) to build out substantial NW Europe, N. African, and East Front forces for large-scale skirmish gaming. It has started with a couple of Pz IIs and a half-track. Only a couple of hundred kits to go....

15mm
Modest collection of late war Germans and Western Allies, mostly ground forces, with some Russians and Italians, from BF and PSC, plus a solid smattering of Peter Pig. Love the heft of metal figures, on singular bases, for this scale.

6mm/micro
Very large collection of Axis and Allies, organized for Spearhead, mostly ground forces with some aircraft. Really like the look of large-scale formations in this scale, and the small models are forgiving of my rubbish painting skills. I also base the figures, which many people don't prefer, but I like not handling the paint jobs. Almost entirely GHQ, but with H&R sprinkled in at numerous places. Both manufacturers are terrific.

1/72 / 20mm: Early War: Germans, Polish, French, some British, Soviets - mostly based individually with sabot-bases  for Crossfire.
15 mm: Early War: Germans, French, British - based for FOW but intended for future use with Spearhead and possibly O Group.

Just a few 6mm gliders and vehicles but thinking about getting into this scale. It will save me a lot of space... or will it, if I just get it on top of the other scales? Let's just pretend it will  :D
