The 11th Doctor
« on: 03 April 2010, 07:42:28 PM »
Well, in my most humble opinion, Matt Smith has absolutely nailed it!

Thoroughly enjoyable first episode.

Can't wait for our friends at Crooked Dice to bully Kev into getting those new figures finished  :D

I must say to my surprise I found myself taking a real liking to the new guy. Enjoyable episode too. Really drew me in.

Oh yes indeedy  ;)

And that teaser at the end  :o  So many monsters to come .... and I think I spotted a glimpse of a revamped favourite of mine from the 3rd Doc's days.

Please note I'm trying my hardest not to spoil things for our pals in the rest of the world  :)

I had mixed feelings about the sneak preview, although the highlight was being able to turn to my young lady and ask her to clarify if I had in fact just seen what looked a lot like Dalek trench warfare... and did the Daleks have little union jacks on?

(Then nipped upstairs to pre-order the crooked dice minis...)

And webbing.  I look forward to finding out how they get into the pouches.

That was great.  :)

Only thing I'm not sure about the TARDIS interior.

I was thinking about the webbing on the Daleks, my guess was it's for the people they are with, rather than for their own use.  Like alien pack mules.

Didn't look all that different to the Eccleston/Tennant one to me.

The tardis interior has a red brothel light. And some sort of balcony. (and the console! it's brass edged! they seem to have taken it in both directions - more high tech on the flashy bits, but more nonsensical household items too...)

I did think it was a bit suspect at the end - super-old chap takes young girl into red-lit box which is bigger on the inside than the outside, and while her mind reels implants her with the suggestion that they go on a little trip... it's a little bit creepy...

loved it - Smith is great, some great gags... love the new Tardis (shades of the 1996 and the 2005 consoles)...

And that teaser at the end  :o  So many monsters to come .... and I think I spotted a glimpse of a revamped favourite of mine from the 3rd Doc's days.

yes... but 2 instead of 3...  ;) better be a bloody good reason for that...

Well, the wiki sites already have rundowns of the episodes of the series, and the whole dalek thing is already explained there since a few weeks.

What mostly amazed me is that either the BBC has won the lottery, or the Tennant era has really revitalised the series cause the sfx parts looked better then before, more `slick` like american scifi series do.

Well, and for that companion  :-*

I absolutely loved it!! Need to listen to the music again, but thought the titles were great. And the TARDIS has never looked so magical.
