Cavalry for Sudan, Darkest Africa
« on: 28 April 2010, 10:53:40 PM »
Ready to acquire 15mm Cavalry for both sides (all sides).

Gotta be taller 15mms, (Peter Pig is too small for OG infantry, which makes up my hordes)

For early action (1883-5) in Sudan, and hopefully usable for DA, what do you think?

Should I do the "norm" and get Camel Corps mounted and dismounted?

Not much use in DA I know, but can you game early Sudan with a straight face with no Camel Corps?

(Keep in mind these will not be "exact" historical battles, so I can mix and mesh units that were not officially "El Teb, Tamai" etc. OOB.)

For Sudan Mahdists, I'm thinking ubits of camelry Beja's, and horse Ansars (you know what I mean)

What's your favorite manufacturers, of "bigger" Colonial mounted units?

How about using 15mm Old Glory Boer Cavalry as mercenaries in your force (I know not historical, but sounds cool)?

Thats good!  Great for darkest Africa, and I already have Boer foot and civilians.

Thanks

I would definitely go for Essex. Not a great variety but they are nice casts and they are well over 15mm.

John, I have an order coming, mostly artillery and British cav units, but they do indeed look good.

Gerard, GREAT blog!  You make any figures look good.  Yeah, I'm getting OG too!

Thanks guys!
