Extremely clever!

I would have never thought of removable water. When making highly specific terrain pieces such as this versatility is very handy!

One of my biggest hobby regrets is still making a modular board with a river in it... in 90% of my games I don't need a river!  lol

Before we know it you'll be building something to sail/steam along the canal.....  ;)

Already on it but that's for another thread as it's more generic and can certainly be used on the Thames etc  :)

lol I've got that problem as well with the normal boards I have  :)

The removable water was only chosen to enable dry canals as they will still be in the boards themselves, so still rather one purpose only  :?

Very nice, but I think the canal bottom needs to have some debris added. You know, the usual sort of stuff - penny farthings, bed frames, shopping trolleys ....

In London perhaps but not on Mars! The canals are the lifeblood of the cities and the Venetian flotilla's will inflict severe 'on the spot penalties' to anyone found dumping!

In that case how about some "no fly tipping" signs in Martian and various Earth languages  lol

Very clever stuff! Nice modelling, indeed.

Thanks again chaps for all the encouragement  :)

That's what they had to on site because they were to chicken to put up what was designed and built (100% to specs).

Great stuff! Really inspirational. Two questions- the canal wall brickwork, what is it? I assume it is plastic molded sheeting used in railroad modeling? How did you get the plastic water section to stay elevated above the dry bed, as I don't see any mechanical means attached to the side of the model? Is the water section slightly wider than the canal width?

I have 4 feet of canal sections built years ago. I was quite happy with them then, but storage is a problem. I'll be paying close attention to this project as I want something modular and semi-storable.
