Anyone running a Halloween game?
« on: October 08, 2010, 12:04:11 AM »
I decided to do it.

probably just daughter, GF, her kids, some neighbor kids, and me mum, and anyone else that wants to come.

Thinking Zombies, while I show Night of the Living Dead on DVD

How are you gonna do the right "spooky" atmosphere?

Thoughts?

I'd like to, not sure if I will have the time, what with the moving and all.  If I do it will likely be a Call of Cthulhu one shot with my chums from High School.

Did that once with a "La Bête de Gévaudan" themed mini-campaign. A lot of fun - I would stage it again, if this time played by candle light. Best moment came when the beast's model was revealed for the first time after the adventurers had hunted it down in the deep, dark forests.
The 18th century is perfectly adapted to such "Halloween" games; just think of the Headless Horseman or the Witch of Blair etc.

Hadn't thought about it, now it seems like a good idea. Preferably something gothic of course. Hmm, looks like I'll have to paint my Zendarian Vampire Slayers in the next few weeks!

Wow, beautiful photos.  And the octopous, very Ed Woodian.

The spookyh atmosphere can be attained by lighting (or lack thereof), music, the general theme and tone of the game, maybe some spooky sounds CD (especially if gothic theme, cheesy Halloween Sounds, like creaking hoiuses, thunder, wind and rattling chains with ghost sounds is fun)

And the food! make scary snacks, maybe some dry ice in the spooky adult beverages?

My PBEM RPG Game was heading down the horror genre for halloween, though I forgot halloween was coming up, never done it myself, never gone treak-or-teating in my life Dad hated it, said there was no need to beg, hated that as a kid, but its payed off because I don't ask for anything from them, rant over.

Hope my game picks up again as the guy I was gaming with has gone awfully quiet :/

At the moment its looking like a game of ATZ LEFT 4 DEAD
have everything but 1 or 2 of the boss zombies.
Might have some horror soundtracks playing in the background

I am toying with the idea of running either a Zombie miniatures game, or a Zombie survival RPG. In the latter case, I'm hoping to talk the players into playing themselves.  ;D
Won't be on the night itself though, I'm spending the afternoon at a friends kid's birthday party. After several hours of kids hyping out on sugar and artificial flavouring, I'll probably be knackered in the evening.....

I quite fancy running a CR3 "Dog Soldiers" scenario for my son - only not telling him about the werewolves until the first squaddie bumps into one  lol

I need to find some good wolf howl mp3s to see if he gets the hint beforehand.

Worked up a "Night of the Living Dead in NW Arkansas" scenario.

(Because the scratchbuilt house I'm gonna use as the objective has "Go Razorbacks" painted on the roof)

Making "Scary Beenie Weenies" (a few gumball machine plastic rings on some of the hot dogs sections is a nice effect) and "Spooky Cornbread" (cornbread with some blue and green food color "mold")

So you love the Razorbacks as much as the Raider Nation loves the Donkeys?  ;)
