Some pics of a little skirmish we played yesterday in a Games festival in Theix (southern Brittany). The game lasted three hours and was good fun, the ruleset was "Argad!" with some new optional rules added.
The minis brought by the players were some WoSS French Marines, sailors/civilians, and S&YW Indians. With this, we quickly decided that the scenario could be a raid of French troops against English settlers and their Indian allies in Northern America in the early 18th C.
Sorry we still have to improve the landscape.
At the beginning of the game the Indians were hidden, but did not know where the French would arrive on the table. And... surprise ! They come from the sea !

And they soon arrive on the shore. Some Indians were hidden in this forest, but prefer to go away secretly when they see the enemy so close.

The ship priest accompanies the troops on shore, but after a while he decides to go back to the ship.

In the little fort the settlers prepare to defend their lives.

A bit later the French advance to a big patch of bushes, but suffer casualties from two guns in the fort. The Indians appear and begin to attack.

The French understand that they need some artillery against the fort, and with great difficulty they bring a naval gun from the ship and on the top of the hill.

It is too late, they have suffered too many casualties. The Indians now dare to attack in hand-to-hand melee.

The surviving soldiers retreat to the shore and let the "savages" take their cannon.

The Indians shout at their retreating enemies but do not dare to walk in the open in front of the ship's guns.

And yes : The English sometimes can win in a French game !
