I have been a miniatures gamer for many years, but was just introduced to this forum as a means of connecting with the community. I live in the Pacific Northwest. Here are some gaming convention writeups from conventions I attend annually:
http://kimalanus.blogspot.com/2010/11/desolation-con-november-20-2010.html Desolation Con is a brand new event, this write up is from the very first convention, only not exactly. Next year's event is scheduled for the Clarion Hotel in Richland, Washington, November 19, 2011. If you are interested in this event, write to me at kimalanus at gmail dot com and I can send you details. One day only, $10 admission, gaming starts at 10:00 AM, runs till 11:00 PM.
http://kimalanus.blogspot.com/2009/10/tactical-solutions-gaming-2009.html Tactical Solutions Gaming is a Daughter convention of Enfilade! (we'll get to that one). It is held in Spokane, Washington on Columbus Day Weekend, this year October 7, 8 and 9 at Center Place at Mirabeau Park. The write up is from the third annual event, first at the beautiful venue at Center Place. There are a lot more pictures from this event at picasaweb, ask me if you want the URL's.
OK, Enfilade! I live for Enfilade because I can't afford to go to HistoriCon.... Memorial Day Weekend at the Olympia Red Lion in Olympia, Washington. If you dig historical miniatures (and some fantasy/pulp/VSF occasionals, but mostly and primarily HISTORICAL) and you live anywhere in the Washington/Oregon/Idaho/British Columbia area, You Should Go.
RadCon is the convention I have been attending the longest. Started in 1992 on Leap Day Weekend in February, RadCon 5C this year had over 2000 attendees at the Inland Empire's premier SciFi and Fantasy Fan Convention. The event moved to President's Day Weekend about sixteen years ago.... Here's a write up from 5B in 2010, the last year I organized gaming:
http://kimalanus.blogspot.com/2010/02/radcon-5b.html No pictures or write up from this year because I was Treasurer. I actually got into the gaming room for a short period Saturday night and deployed some WWII Russian tanks, but somebody else had to take over running them 'cause I had to go off and take care of some other stuff....
Since I didn't get to play at RadCon, it was off to Vancouver, WA at the end of March for GameStorm to just play and not organize anything. I forgot my cameras, so this year's post
http://kimalanus.blogspot.com/2011/03/gamestorm-2011.html has photos from my camera phone. They're not bad, but it can't do the miniature close ups that I love....
So that's my annual circle of conventions, I hope I meet some of you at one event or another.
We do have a local organization here in the Tri-Cities of Washington state called War Eagles. We have been active for twenty years or so. Here's a write up of our most recent event:
http://kimalanus.blogspot.com/2011/03/trafalgar-only-more.htmlDo say hi, if you've a mind to....
