too kind guys!  :)
@Sangennaru: thanks Jack :) Sorry, no keywords, it is not a webstore. Is a shop in Verona where my parents house is. Some bits are produced by "amati modellismo navale" but I don't know if they sell online. If you want I can buy them and send to you in milan, but actually I live in Bologna and I'll go in Verona once or twice in a month, so it will take a long to receive the bits... mail me if you want to try this way.
@FramFramson: thanks mate :) Can't wait to show you what we have planned to do... We just need the time to realize it  o_o

@Sangennaru: really mate? sounds good! :) so this could be the beginning of a wonderful collaboration!

We have finished the upper part of the quay and we carved another canal section. Ok, not a great update, but we made also some overview so I'd like to share some pics...

this is the new section we carved:

and these are the overview pics of our progress until now

Finally we prepared a small canal section to try water effect...

we have to paint it properly and insulated it with something like plasticard or whatever. However, we need the right colours to mix with the epossidic resin before going on and it seems to take a long to receive them... :?
Hope you like it guys, C&C always welcome!

i really like the carving job, BUT be careful with the balsa stuff: it is pretty fragile, and you should reinforce it a lot to avoid unwanted crashes during a "energic" game! :)

please keep us informed with any progresses, it is almost like being part of the project for us! :)

time for a new update!
first, we finished the dock

as you can see (and as Sangennaru spotted) it's not a solid construction but it will be fixed by a massive use of water effect.
Did I say "water effect"? Yes, I did. Little step: we found out some universal colour to mix with resin.
So we did a pair of 4cm deep crates in a styrene block and put inside a stick to look the effect of the colour and deepness.

First we try with a little amount of green and after with more green and little ochra. tomorrow the result :)

Things we have learned today using water effect: a) better use it in small quantity, let it dry and than go with one other small amount and so on. b) better to mix it in the glass c) mix it slowly or you will have bubbles
All things that will be useful to know to go on with the water effect in our next step: the Serious Attempt. As I showed in the older post we built a small canal section for this purpose. Today we used filler to create a little volume

Now we have to paint it and after that to fill it with water effect. In our mind this is the chance to test the final look of our canals. Let's see what happens :)

Ah, we finished to shape all our islands. We did some new stairs to get the ground level from the canals. One or two days of work and we will pass to Detailing Phase, just before the beloved Painting Phase...
Some overlook

hope you like it guys :)
Let me know what you think!
C&C always welcome

Thank you Captain! I'm glad you like it :)
I do not know how it will end... hope this is not a too big project for us. We'll need tons of water effect and resin is a tricky material to use. Better to try and try before :)

Yes, the trial and error way is the right way to go. We almost destroyed our Pirate Table by using (untested) yacht varnish, that we had been promised was totally without colour. It wasnt. Everything turned a brownish green. We then tried to save it by adding acrylic varnish with food colour (wich worked very well, better than expected), however, the combined effect of brownish green and a vivid blue made it look, to say the least, horrible. We have decided that it was a serious dysenteria outbreak, all the pirates had to go swim and do their Number Two in the water... that created a explosive algea blooming :D

@Galland: lol  lol ahrrrr! Pics?
yep, after a long career of untested fails I decided to spend my time in several attempts before going with the final solution. But it means a lot of effort to create useless stuff... like that canal section: it's like an exercise. You do it just to improve your knowledge but after all is something you cannot play with. And the projects goes sloooow... :(
anyway, I think I will spend 200 euro or more for water effect: too much for a fail lol so trial and error is really essential

@ Faber

There are several threads around with our pirate table, swashbuckler area and the events area (look for SLAM!). We will use clear casting resin for our next water project, mixed with some food colour and airbrused underneath it or perhaps in the various layers.

I've see them! Is it this?

It's not bad as you said! :) I've seen worst fail with water effect. Eg this one http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com/2010/01/tutorial-water-with-2-component-water.html
