I agree, that is incredible idea and execution!  I try to keep an eye towards transportability, but I usually think in terms of moving things in a bin.  Having a tabletop in a backpack is amazing!

Someone once said pick the travel container first, then build the terrain to fit in it. Nice job there :)

To let oneself be shackled by practical considerations? I am not sure it is the gentleman wargamers way. ;)

Very clever! The next Build something competition should have the title 'Practical terrain'.
How about a competition where you have to get a full tables worth of terrain into a standard box for photocopy paper? They're what roughly 30x22x30?

I laughed when I read that and thought how ridiculous it was. But then I realised there are probably several people here who will now go and do exactly that  lol

I certainly hope so anyway  ;)

Even when your not transporting your stuff storage is often an issue and building a themed table to be this easily stored is a great idea.

my stuff already is... great for storage... the quarry (still very WIP) fits in two boxes... my hedgerows fit in two A4 label boxes and my river bank fits in in one label box...

Great idea... you're gonna make a fine LAFfer.

On a side note is it just me or is middle eastern scenery becoming really popular?

I'd suspect because it's easy, has multiple uses and has been in the media alot.
