With these guys to be more precise:

German Infantry plastic boxed set

Or should I just look for 1/48 Tamiya figures?

Just reload the page and it should work. Had the same problem earlier today.

If you can bring yourself to pick the Dust figures apart and mix the two sets, they look fine. Also the Dust minis can be an elite Squad (like wolf runners) and you won't notice so much.

Thanks for the replies! I think, I'll get the Tamiya ones. I read that those ones are just thinner (they don't carry much equipment, unlike the Dust figures).

Yeh, DUST is 1/48th scale and the figures look taller than standard 28mm figures.

I've noticed that Parente talks about the models as 1/48 at his Dust page, but so far I hadn't really looked that closely at my own Dust minis to really think about the scale. I had of course noticed that they were thinner and taller than, say, my Imperial Guard troopers...

So I brought out some unpainted 1/48 Preiser figures and compared them with my Dust and GW Imperial Guard minis, and tried to find figures that were standing fairly straight. The Dust minis are markedly taller than the GW minis, but still slightly shorter than the Preiser figures. I'd say they are about 2 mm shorter, even though I've taken the fact that the Dust figures are crouching more into consideration. The only Dust woman, Sigrid von Thaler, is spot on for the femaie Preiser figures, being about as tall as the Dust men.

Looking at body thickness the Dust figures compare quite favourably with the Preiser figures.

Dust is definitely closer to 1/48 than the regular wargaming scales, although not absolutely perfect. Some time ago I bought a Tamiya KV-2 to use as the basis for a W40K Grot tank, but I think I'll just build it as a KV-2 and nothing else, repainting my Red Blok minis at the same time. I'm definitely going to take a renewed look at the rest of the Tamiya line now!

I decided to bring out my Red Blok army for a comparison and found that they are slightly shorter than the Dust minis - but still close enough to be quite useful! Base sizes are the same, too, which helps.

I have to saw as owning both the Warlord plastic Germans and the dust figures the dust figures are noticeably taller. But having some tamia 1/48 russians that they are close to the dust figures so probably best you go that route.

Thanks for all the help! It's just a pity that there aren't many 1/48 makers  :'(

Had to check out the Tamiya minis, went to town, bought a box of US army infantry and a German Hetzer. The vehicle will be quite right in size, but the infantry models are actually a little on the tiny side, being right in between the Dust and GW IG figures and way shorter than the Preiser civilians, who are labelled as 1/50.

If you want some 1/48th miniatures in metal, we do around 160 different WW2 figures, plus the Projekt X range, which is also 1/48th.
We have Americans, Germans, British and Russians

I don't have any DUST models yet so I cannot give a comparison but our figures are slightly taller than the Tamiya ones.

You can find them here.

WW2- http://scarabminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=32

Projekt X- http://scarabminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=34

Hope that helps
