Dust Tactics picked up by Fantasy Flight Games
« on: July 10, 2010, 12:01:46 AM »
AEG has transferred Dust Tactical to Fantasy Flight Games. FFG says its on track for a release in August/September:

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite_sec.asp?eidm=123&esem=2

Retails for $99, includes 4x mechas, 2x squads, rules, some terrain bits and what not. I'm gonna pre-order this as soon as it's available!
Play the game, not the players!

Sounds like a game of Hot Potato. Didn't FFG let it rot, and then AEG picked it up and got it going again?

No, I'm not talking about the board game. In 2009, AEG took over the work on Dust Tactics from FFG. Which took over from Rackham, which liked Pablo Parente's art style, but decided to turn it into AT43 instead.

Which FFG released in 2008. This is a different game.

You are perhaps confusing the board game which was released at the same time as FFG also started previewing the miniatures from the Dust miniatures game that was being worked on

Are you trying to be a troll? I've been following the whole Dust stuff since around the time that the first Dust miniseries was released. I remember how they kept going on about a skirmish game. First it was with Rackham. Then they dropped it and FFG picked it up. But they gave us the board game instead. They release some pictures of prototypes, and then nothing for who knows how long until AEG announces that it will release the game. And now this. This game has gone through development hell!

According to my infos Jakar is right...
Which is a shame, DUST is such a nice continuation and development of Gear Krieg designs.
And even in the "right" scale (at least for some of us - personally I love my 15mm Gears!).

I still hope the game will come out as planned, I am certainly picking up a copy, even if I will only use the minis and not the rules.
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - http://www.adpublishing.de

I just read the FFG annoucement:
"•One platoon of allies, comprised of 2 robots, 15 soldiers, and Captain Joseph Brown.
•One platoon of the axis, comprised of 2 robots, 15 soldiers, and Colonel Sigred Von Thaler"

Robots??? There are no robots in DUST, these are manned walkers.
Hopefully just a small oversight. If not they really do not seem to know what are they planning to sell! >:( :(

Are you trying to be a troll?

Comments of this nature, I believe, are not really looked upon favorably on this forum.

I have a confession....  ::)

(I've bought some critical mass 15mm, 'not' halo arc troopers! And some 'not' aliens from the company in the US, oh and some vehicles from old crow and GZG...I feel dirty but in good way).

Anyway back to dust, yup hope this still comes good.

Not in a personal nature, from what I can see.

Easy... :)
I know Jakar from the DP9 forum, he is sometimes a bit eager, but I have also experienced him to be a helpful gamer that provided me artwork for my Banzai! book.
IMO - simply a misunderstanding of two people talking about different things - the Dust (Risklike) board game and the again and again announced DUST miniature game.

And pixelgeek is the editor of Tabletop Gaming News (I believe).

Each certainly has their own perspectives, however, my experience is that getting personal never resolves an issue.
