A hot glue gun, the wargamers best friend! It's just so useful for a lot of things!

Great progress on your project eager to see the finished board or set-up!

I don't know what I will do with the board itself, I have a problem getting the last things I need to finish it, due to lack of transportation and money.

But somehow it will be done before Horisont  :)

Finally it seems that I am getting my last mammoths, I just got an email today that they have been sent, so hopefully I have some good updates next week.

Really like this project, having some of the cavemen myself I picked up a few of these mammoths at my local A C Moore they are a bit bigger that the one you are using and at pretty nice (made out of the hard rubber type toy animal stuff, but the were on sale an only $5 a piece I think I might get some more.

A little bit more of the same:

20 moore trees done!

40 trees in a box.

I think I have enough now, but maybe I will do the last 40 too, if I get bored.

One more piece of terrain.

This is how I recieved it this morning.

Basecoat of gesso.

Base colouers added.

Done.

Done from the other side.

Caveman with grass turf.

Stone cirkel and trees.

A mammoth prowls around in the dark.

I am not 100% sure about how much I like the grass turfs. It looks ok on the stone cirkel, but I don't know if it is too big for the caveman base, so I have not glued it in place there yet.

Is that a single-piece resin casting?

I like the tufts, been meaning to get some myself to try out on bases and scenery. In fact, I like the whole project, the mammoth herd is, well, mammoth! (the thought of a caveman-squashing game where the players run the mammoths instead of the cavemen also amuses me!)

Yes, it is a single piece resin cast. It was really easy to prepare, all I had to do was to wash it and then paint it, no flash or anything.

I bought it on ebay. A bit expensive, but I saved a lot on the lousy trees and had some cash in my paypal.

I don't think it is historical correct to have a stone circle like this in the stoneage, but I quite like the look of it and it will be usefull for all sorts of future projects.

The grass tufts are easy to use, but I would have liked some a little smaller, which I think would be better on bases, but this size is fine on terrain and larger bases.

I bought the grass for my VSF models, but they are based on 20mm washers and these tufts would fill almost all of the bases.

I don't recall this properly, but I THINK I've read that most of the 'standing stones' found in Europe are from the Bronze Age - but that a lot of large stone monuments (like Newggrange in Ireland - don't lynch me if I'm wrong, here) are actually from the Stone Age. A stone circle, no matter its historical accuracy, is always a nice table piece, though.

I would use smaller ones for 'infantry' minis, perhaps with a bit of fine flock in patches, too. I have not taken the plunge into using those li'l bastards, yet, though.

Anyway, I doubt the Copplestone cavemen are historic either, I see them more as movie style cavemen, like you see in the 60s and 70s prehistoric movies.

So this might be a caveman mammoth huhnt, but probably with lot of fantasy elements. The goal is not to be 100% historical corrrect, it is to have a fun and good looking game with a theme taken from human prehistory.

Of course. Fun and the right cinematic mood is everything!  :)
