Give 'rabbet' cutting a try for joining those foamboard edges. You can pick up cutters designed purely for the purpose but it's easy enough to try yourself. Essentially you cut the foamboard through one layer of card and the foam, leaving one of the card layers in place (the same thickness as the foamboard). Then when you glue the two pieces together, the card covers the seam on the other piece of foamboard making it look neater and also gives another surface to apply glue along.

Finished putting the trim around the deck, looks much neater now.

Have added the tail and am currently trying to design an engine of some description.



I also don't know what to use as a prop. I went to a model shop intending to buy a 5" plastic prop, but they were all too long. I may make something instead.

You could always cut the prop down, I've done it a couple of times and it works a treat

One option for the prop would be a flying base making it look like it is spinning.

Took a few moments out to make a possible deck gun. I may not fit it to the deck to allow different weapons to be swapped out.

One word of advice: always use sharp blades when cutting foam board and (first) press just ever zo gently when cutting, only cutting through the card top layer.  A second cut go will go through the foam.  Since card & foam are different materials, it is never a wise idea to cut through in one go.  Furthermore: the better the shape of the foam is in after cutting, the easier it will be to finish the edges.

Having not used foam board much before, the above tip has proved to be the best possible advice!
