Very nice family picture!!

Thank you!
Just a shame that Fluffy never behaves.... ::)

They're fantastic mate! looking forward to getting a game of this, especially having missed out on Mondy (I did say my health seems dictated by Nurgle himself at times...).

Are you in the market for being a player yourself as well as GM? I wouldn't mind having a bash at GMing too some time if poss. ;)

No need for a GM, mate. I just thought it would be easier, as it will be the first time that we will be playing, if you two play each other and I wield the rulebook!

Giant frogs! Very bizarre. Not too sure about the look of these (nothing to do with painting), although I appreciate they are quintessentially Lovecraftian. Also look a bit like Slann - so THAT's where GW got the idea from :D.

I also agree that the best one is the one reading. Looks like he's paused for some essential functions! lol

Bert

Ok, Bert, only you would come up with a comment like that!

Looking very good indeed mate! Good work, there - the man from M.O.O.S.E done good 8)

Thanks, mate!
Gotta get to using 'em now!

I've made a start reading the rules now. I fully intend to collect a group of bad guys too, as cultists and the like have always really appealed to me! I have a very definite objective to search around at Salute for now, I will see if I can turn anything suitable for SA up.

Looking forward to our inaugral game with Kitsune on Monday now. 8)

I dont have the book, and no cash to get anywhere soon (probably unemployed by the end of the month...) but i think i understand that only the goodguys can improve but the lurkers dont have this "roleplay" element?

If this is so i dont think i'll like this as much as i expected....  o_o

Not sure who else is at Salute but I know Black Cat Bases will be, so far almost all of their stuff has not disappointed me once...prices are not bad either...if EM4 is there, another great spot to hit up...

Join the club (or Cult!), mate.
Salute is a mission for SA stuff.
Going to check Black Cat Bases range and the Dunwich range from em4 amongst others.
Looking forward to Monday!

Sorry to hear about the work front, Mo!
Thats rough.  :-[

Dont let the lack of an experience system for Lurkers put you off of the game, though.
I dont see that as a problem.
As all the Lurkers are designed for each game, there is nothing to stop you from giving them 'experience' by using the same Lurkers in later games and making them slightly better each time.
That way you can build a story between games with recurring villains who can become the arch-enemies of the opponents Team.
It leaves it in your own hands just how much better you want them to be.
It sounds like the perfect system to me.
 :)

On my list, mate!  ;)

Another small update, that coincides well with einarolafson' s latest post.

Whilst getting the Farm out of the cupboard earlier in the week I came across a box that I had forgotten that I had.
It contained a whole fleet of 1:43 scale cars that I had bought on ebay some years ago, with the intention of starting a Gangster project!.
In it were four Models of Yesteryear, boxed, and about half a dozen loose cars suitable for the period.
They will be perfect for Strange Aeons!
Here are four of the loose ones that I will be using as vehicles for M.O.O.S.(E).

The two gold coloured cars on the left will be used by teams in the field, whilst the blue one will be the Minister's car and the red one (which I have already taken apart) will be the Colonel's staff car.

Looking forward to painting these up soon!

Really sorry to hear about your impending unemployment Mo, that's rough. Hope something crops up for you soon, mate.

Don't give up on collecting lurkers, as Mason says there is still scope - and what's to stop you from creating your own experience scheme for baddies provided your opponent is cool with it? I think SA is too cool a concept to ignore.

Cheers

Bert

The Threshold (good guys) improve with each game (well maybe, depends).

The Lurkers do not improve like a Threshold team but their value that is used against the Threshold team always improves. so if you have a team that goes from 15 points to 20 points. The Lurker gets that same amount of points of 20 for the next game to build their bad guys. The more points the Lurker gets, this opens up either adding more models to group or being able to add a more powerful creature you could not add before due to point limits.

The "roleplay" element is there to a point, or rather the "storyteller" element is what I would call it. To me as a Lurker (see my blog article about Lurkers), they are the "storyteller" or even GM to a point that drives the game. So, they can come up with a theme for that game if they want to give as a challenge to the Threshold player.

To me the sky is the limit on what figures you collect and what type of scenery/enviroment you build for your games...

Here is a good example:

Bob and Fred are going to play a game, Fred is Threshold this game and has enough points built up for a 20 point team after playing his first game and adding some gear and such. Bob just finished a mental hospital (using a Plasticville  Hospital kit) (yes, I am using one of my ideas) and finished painting a Mad Scientist, Henchmen (crazy nurses), Manaics (patients) and a few zombies (the good doc's experiments in immortality).

They roll the scenario and get  "Escape" so the table gets setup with the mental hospital in the middle, a garden hedge maze to one side, a graveyard in another spot and some woods and a road are placed on the table. The story aspect is that the agents have to excape the other side of the table before the good doc and company can kill them...their car is on the other board edge and they need to make the the other table edge to make a report to their superiors and bring an army or at least gear up better to tackle the doc....

The next game Fred is playing Threshold, Bob has added some other Undead to his collection now and the good doctor is ready when Threshold attacks to bring down the good doctor. They roll and get a fight...well, the good Doctor is taken out (but may not be dead) and could haunt a future game as an recurring bad guy...

Well, the good news is that short of the books, the models are cheaper that some other games. Plus, you don't need a huge collection to get started. If you get the books, figure out what you want to buy this lets you stay on a budget...

As for money issues, been there and I feel for you, best wishes on looking for a new job. Start looking early, best to start now to keep the pressure off. Plus you could always sell some stuff for extra cash....that is what I am doing. My wife and I are on a "debt free" crusade, so my spending for hobby related stuff is low. Thus, I have to budget my spending.

Nicely put, Styx! Illustrates the potential of the game, I feel. And we are in a grim old time for sure, with work issues and money worries. Yeah, I am with Styx, Mo! - good luck mate, and hope something comes along.

I'm on a debt repayment kick myseff, and I think there is light at the end of the tunnel - even if it's a bunch of cultists with a torch!

I think we all need some easy diversions in life at the moment, so I am looking forward to a bit of Strange Aeons to cheer me up.

Loving those jam jars, Mason! :)

(For those non-UK residents not aux faix with rhyming slang, jam jar = car :D)

Well, we look to be getting a new loan on the house and dropping our payment by 1/3 which will help the debt repayment. In a few years we could be debt free short of the house. Student loans, car, everything...

The depressing thing is hitting the 40 mark in 2 months, so I am trying to find something cool to do with my wife and just ask to llet me order a bunch of stuff online...that is all I want anyway...guess I am not at a midlife crisis yet, I just want a few toy soldiers...

No problem, copy away!

My shop list is this:
Plasticville hospital (to make into a mental hospital)
Hedges (for a hedge maze)
pack of 44 gravestones (found a pack of plastic ones for 8 pounds) and add some other graveyard goodies...

The Doctor and Nurse 1 and 3 from Black Cat Bases (Mad Scientist and Henchmen)
The Glom from Reaper (Conglomorate or Blas Construct)
Ghosts (dead mental paitents) (Reaper Necorpolis figures)
Zombies (already have a few from Black Cat Bases)
Maybe a few extra Nurses or something to modify with a Reaper Weapons Sprue or Extra BCB weapons..
The Maniacs from West Wind Vampire Set, love the teddy bear, axe and such....

Figure this would make a fun set of scenery and a great theme for a game...working on some other ideas..also working on the "crazy librarian" game...need an old house, already have the book golem, zombies and such, figure it would be a fun game of some old librarian going nuts and falling into the mad word of the lurkers!

Ah, 40 ain't so bad mate! I'm 42 in just over a week, and as long as I have a few toy soldiers I am able to keep in touch with my inner child! I've seen adults - don't really fancy being one thanks very much...
