I'm pretty sure there was a sequel in the works (some of the trailers feature egg-shaped walkers and other footage not in the film), but I haven't really heard much.

One of the fun things (ok, YMMV) is how they cut back to interviews throughout the movie. They're obviously actors (just pay attention to everything), but it adds an element of believability to it.
