Adam's Pyrrhus from Heraclea Partizan 2012
« on: 29 May 2012, 12:58:49 PM »
Adam painted a number of command bases for the Heraclea game that Craig Davey put on at this year's Partizan. He also did a number on the second figure in the pack (the standard was added by Adam and is not usually supplied).

I am collecting the rest of the photos from the game and will mount them on a page on our site, it should take a couple of days to get it sorted.

Cheers

Keith

Yes, Craig Davey put on Heraclea and we assisted. The phalanx had 24o figures with 48 tarentine hoplites on the flanks. The Romans had 320 heavy infantry. Craig did a great job on the boards with a smashing river running the lenght of one side. I will gather up photographs and post some here soon, I was too busy with the rules and game to take my camera out...lol

Cheers

600 heavy foot, about 150 cavalry, 2 elephants, and 100 light foot skirmishers and 72 loose formation foot.So nearly 1000 all told. It was very easy on the eye, all the basing was the same or very close so the overal impression was that it was one collection of figures rather than the 4 that they cam e from.

The Eagle king was my first love in historical wargaming and really got me into it. A lot of gnashing of teeth was involved though, since most troop types weren't readily available yet. In the end, I abandoned the project. Seeing your wonderful Heraclea game here has got me thinking, if to take up the thread again. A first piece has been ordered to see, if the fire's been reignited. Thanks for that, Aventine.  :)

Skirmish, I call that.  ;-)

It was a fantastic looking game, with all the minis painted to a very high standard, and the wall of pikemen, in particular, was spectacular.

That Pyrrhus chap killed my General in hand to hand combat!
