Old School Shield Images
« on: 24 July 2012, 02:27:45 PM »
I still remember Nick Fury with white streaks in his hair and as an old white dude.  I'm looking for a good comic image or two from that era that shows shield troops in combat for some inspiration.  I have this easily found image from the net

but for some reason, I only have memories that stand out of the white gear, not the red for the foot sloggers.  Can anyone help me out?  Do you know where to find images of the old school uniforms in action?

I've got a large avengers collection, but unfortunately most of my other comics that might show SHIELD have long gone.  Though I'm a dab hand at finding things on the net if I have a lead.

Thanks for any help.

Do I get a prize?

My super power is Search-Fu!

This was like finding a needle in a haystack but notice to the front, the red! Also, down that line on the right, like they are marching or something on the cover...

Also, notice on this one, only the one on the left is white, the others are off color...more than likely before or after that scheme...

WOW, Thanks, that's a super power I wish I had Styx!  Don't have any idea what comic issue that first image si from do you?  Didn't know if you cropped it or not?  I'd love to have a look inside it, if I can find it.

No, I took it straight from a URL on the internet, the poster of the image cropped it to avoid copyright issues.

Hehehehhe, When I order your stuff this weekend don't forget me!

Managed to find the image again and back track the page...It was a What If (I think I have the issue in my comics), The Punisher Joins Shield...

First Appearance: What If? II#57 (January, 1994)

History: (What If? II#57 (fb)) - During one of Frank Castle's stakeouts, he was gassed and brought before SHIELD Col. Nick Fury, who offered him a chance to use his talents to tackle bigger criminals than just hoodlums and crooks. Given the choice between SHIELD or prison, Frank Castle chose SHIELD and was given access to their arsenal and a striketeam of his own choosing. One of the first missions he sent his men on was against the Yellow Claw, whom Castle gunned down at point blank range. Returning from the mission, Castle was chewed out for not bringing back the Yellow Claw for questioning. Soon after on a mission in Madripoor, Castle opted to bring in the druglords but completely torch their buildings and supply. Once again chewed out by Fury, Castle was demoted to Chase Unit Zed, working with the recently captured. Sent on another mission, this time with Dum-Dum Dugan as the lead, Hydra surprised the agents with an attack that caused the deaths of all agents but Castle himself. Castle stayed in hiding at the Hydra base for three weeks later, deciding to leave SHIELD completely and return to his vigilante ways. He then had his old pal Microchip hack into SHIELD's files on Hydra and while SHIELD thought Castle dead along with the other agents, Frank used his old clearance codes to steal a S. H. I. E. L. D. plane. S. H. I. E. L. D. soon suspected and brought it Microchip for questioning while Castle piloted the plane to Hydra Island.

(What If? II#57) - Using a SHIELD Flight Suit, the Punisher jumped down onto Hydra Island, gunning down as many Hydra agents as he could on his way down. He then made his way to the center of the Island where he took a few gunshots while gunning down other Hydra agents. As he died, he smiled, thinking of how his war was finally over and while he would never see his family again, at least they were together.

Comments: Created by Chuck Dixon, Mike Harris, and Jim Amash.

This reality diverged when the Punisher agreed to work for SHIELD

Let me know, I can look in my stuff before I sell it next month. Media mail is cheap in the US.

Don't yield!

Back SHIELD!

Covers by the definitive writer/artist of Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD, Jim Steranko.  He changed how things looked all the time, so you've got a lot of leeway.

Images taken from the Grand Comics Database at http://www.comics.org/
Back from the dead, almost.

And so far as inspiring images go ...

The one in the middle was a single four-page image, so it suffers a little from reduction.

Another fun find, Shadowcat wearing a Shield Uniform, she worked for them a short time to help with a computer problem in a comic...they have her in a technical uniform!
