I've only seen articles here and there, but there does seem to be a tendency towards creating GW style "lists" and putting together game-winning but unhistorical and unlikely forces .
I assume you can ignore all that and just create "real platoons".
It is to early to speak of unreal platoons. Lets wait for the first book to make a judgement...

Would this include Chinese do you think?

More likely to be Holland, Belgium, etc.

Some of the list on the WG forums actually made me throw up in my mouth a little.

I bought the rules at Historicon and read thru them a couple nights in my hotel room but sold them to another guy before I left. Some of the rule mechanics are pretty cool but I didn't feel it would be able to handle the size games my buds and I regularly play.
Now reading some things on the WG forums I'm glad I sold them as it seems a little generic in the vehicle/art/AT gun department.
I think its a good set for games somewhere in between skirmish/squad action and small platoon action.

The lists were the first thing that struck me too. The 'ultimate list' contest already seems to be underway on some other sites with a '40k style' army building approach. That could be a good move to encourage GW players in to the historical side of the hobby, presenting an easy way in. My preference would be to stick to the more historical ToE lists found in other rules but transfer them over to BA. It's a fair point to raise the supplements as we don't know how detailed they will be. We normally play Disposable Heroes but I picked up a cheap copy of BA as an occassional alternative and it looks like it will be fun to play. I think I'll be using the DH platoon lists though.

I'm awaiting for my rules to arrive. I like to think that you could have more than one player aside with a platoon etc and this would certainly be very interesting for the game.

Cheers,

Well the vehicle/art/AT gun department is indeed VERY generic and a bit limited, but IMO nothing that can stop you of having fun. But I have to agree sometimes it feels odd when every 75mm gun of every nation has the same game value.

As far as squad action and small platoon actions are concerned I have to disagree, games with less than a full platoon will be over VERY quickly...
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

Exactly. Basically every in BA has 5 man squads with the option to fill the squads up to their correct number.
But if you want you can have a German Platoon with a Command squad and 2x 5man squads.

Its flexibility - either a large, survivable squad or 2 fragile 5 man fireteams that give you more maneuverability & fire direction plus a greater chance of activation (more dice in the cup)
Clear the battlefield and let me see
All the profit from our victory.

I'm struggling to get interested in this, when I first of it I was excited, but after months and months of waiting, stupid and inconsistent BA warlord releases, all this uber list competitive rubbish and the main (negative for me) selling point of people trying to sell it being "its like 40k/FoW but in 28mm" has just made me not care.

Competitive gaming can swing for all I care.

Mind you saying this on the warlord site made Paul cry like a baby and eventually got me banned, not that I care, that forum got boring fast.
Banned for not liking the game?
Sounds harsh!

Apparently I was the evil naysaying troll, mostly because I didn't like or see the point in current releases, like the sturmtiger, flakpanzer, that char b1 with the flamer, the 6 panzershreck stupid thing and allot of metals people begged for in plastic.

It's trolling wanting to see vehicles that actually existed/played a part like panzer 3's, or alternative panzer 4's.

I also complained about the neglect of the Crimean range, the randomness of the Napoleonic range and the silly prices of some items,

Throwing toys out of a pram basically, they don't like criticism, so my interest in there product is practically 0 now

Thanks you, Helen. let's come back to BA. For me it is ok, when the system is simple. WWII was fast and BA is fast. For realistic battle use "Mein Panzer" in 6mm. But I think it is not so "flowing"...

I will wait till I see more books with expanded lists to see if I will like it. Mechanic seems to be good enough, book looks fantastic but troops available are FAR too generic for me for now (and no rules yet for my beloved soviet sapper-engineers and scout troops.) So i will wait but game has potential, that's for sure.

the effect of losing my interest in bolt action is on topic, I was helping to expand my reasons why my interest in bolt action has gone, and that for the foreseeable future they have lost a customer to this set of rules and the companies products as a whole.

Negatives about something are as common as the positives, I feel I should be allowed to express my lack of interest and why just as any other can post his joyful enthusiasm and why.

The topic is about the WW2 rules.

Thank you.
