Modern USMC 28mm Generation Kill - Update - Crew hacks 11th May.

Brining to bulk of my Jihadistan project to near completion the one last thing I want to do is the US and their vehicles from the top TV series "Generation Kill", so I'm looking for suitable figures for the infantry as well as crew figures. Already got my eyes on TAG, havve the excellent Eureka recon Marines which were released two Salutes ago - BUT still want some more recommendations, especially for crew.

Eureka also do regular USMC infantry, in fact they've just pumped out some more in the past week, SMAW team and two really lovely M240 GPMG teams. They won't be an exact match for Generation Kill, IIRC they were wearing MOPP suits for almost the entirety of the series. The body armour also dates from a later period than 2002 but if you aren't too anal about such things and you want current issue kit, the Eureka figures are far and away the best figures out there.

The JD McDaniel figures (sculptor for the original DDD range) have been re-modelled and re-released by Victory Force. I think Eureka are still the way to go in terms of quality.

Just had a look at the Eureka bits and saw the newer packs... so I think we have a winner.

Can you point me at some pictures of SMAW and GPMG teams? I don't seem to be able to find them on the Eureka site.

I don't have them but I heard Black Scorpion Minis are closer to 35 mm, and won't mix well with other 28mm ranges.  They are really nice though.

what about new figures from eureka "SMAW team and two really lovely M240 GPMG teams"? Do you have any pictures?...

Nope, Nic only cast them up about a fortnight ago. Mine are still sitting in their plastic bag. One MG team is an advancing team, gunner with GPMG slung over his shoulder, number tow advancing/ patrolling. The other is firing and the gunner comes with a cool little separate base depicting some urban rubble upon which he is posed in a prone firing position. His number two also has a  scenic base and is a sitting firing position.

The SMAW gunner is kneeling firing and has a separate M16A$ which has a small peg on one side that slots onto his back. His number two has a small pack with a spare round for the smaw that sits on top. Same deal, small peg and hole to secure the piece.

Usual attention to detail, very natural posing, excellent sculpts all round.

Very interresting, but I'd like to see picture and know when they will be available (if they are...)...

Email Mr Robson, ask nicely and he will send you some. I suspect that photos will appear on the Chronofus blog within a few weeks, that's the usual pattern with new stuff from Eureka. I'm a shit photographer.

The Eureka figures which are really nice are also wearing the newer helmet as opposed to the "fritz" style helmet worn in Generation Kill.
