Both decks look very nice, but 1864 deck does have more the feel of the era to me as well. Are both decks normal "paper" cards or either/both with "plastic" finish thus making the cards less easy for wear and tear?

Both are heavy duty normal playing cards, not prone to tearing etc.  The Bicycle cards are much more "slick" out of the box.  Both would last you forever.

BUMP: I got in touch with the company who produces the 1864 deck.  The price is a tiny bit more, but is very doable.  I'm leaning toward this deck simply because the Bicycle deck really looks like "dirty" modern playing cards, as opposed to period pieces.  I'm leaning toward the 1864's.  Will grab some more feedback on my blog/facebook/TMP etc.

Minor update: weekend...time to crank out some more pages of the PDF.

Also, I have ordered a decently large amount of acrylic for tokens --- for my buddy to cut up so I can see how many tokens I get per sheet, and how much it'll all cost.  This means if the kickstarter doesn't meet its goal, I should have several sets of tokens available for anyone who picks a copy up off gamecrafter etc.  They'll also be good tokens for generic games too, so I may have some spare sets if this thing doesn't take off!  lol

Hey guys, pardon the piss-poor lighting and my rather ungainly voice...but here is a link to the first YouTube video I've posted, going over the creation of gangs and posses.  I'm posting the link even though the video is processing.  Should be up by morning I'd imagine.

I'll be doing a small assortment of videos - more when the Kickstarter is up and running.  If there is anything you'd like me to address in a future video, just let me know.

Good video, I liked it, has got me even more keen for the release/kickstarter

Thanks Pinny...my camera doesn't seem to like the lights in my garage office too much.  I'll have to sort out a much better video angle/lighting before I do any more.

Looks like things are moving right along! I'm pretty excited about the whole process. I think the pages with the sepia tone look great.

Elbows,

Any Idea on the timeline for your Kickstarter? I have a lot going on in the near future, and I just want to make sure I don't miss it. It looks awesome, and I'm in for probably two complete sets of whatever you put out.

     Thanks!

Actually, I'll be starting it within 2-3 weeks as of now.  I was waiting to finish the rules, but then I realized that the kickstarter will probably be set for 2 months, so I can "finish" them in that time frame no problem.  My only issue right now is squaring away the amazon payment thing (linking it to my bank account) and squaring away the tax circumstances.  All of the "pieces" are done.  I'll need to do a quick intro-video etc...but it's pretty much good to go.  Just have to find time to hit up the website, do the final math (waiting on cost of tokens) and post it.

The college I work for lets out in three weeks - so that would be the latest (I'm unemployed over summer!).  I've also found a couple of ways to trim costs on the gamecrafter side of things.  I expect between $25-30 shipped for the basic set, and $45-ish for the full set with dice, etc.  I will have a couple options for buying a pair of sets to save you on shipping.

In addition, I figured out how to do "stretch" goals.  I'll be setting my kickstarter aiming for 200 sets.  For each additional hundred sets ordered, my price goes down - so I'll add more cards/characters/blanks to the game itself.  These will be minor things (a handful of extra characters etc.).  But by starting modest, if it does well enough you will get some extras as my price drops.

I'll definitely push it on my blog when the KS gets started. I'll hit a couple of my other forums as well.

Sounds good guys - I will be relying heavily on word of mouth.  I may try to get in touch with some of the game sites (table top gaming news type sites).  But, like Heisler said, I'll stay mum on the stuff until the KS is launching.
