Cool.

Once upon a time there was a comic - The Trigan Empire. And one particular episode featured a biplane... with a jet engine.

I have the Trigan Empire annual, if you need any scans from it. I'm assuming it's no longer in print and not subject to copyright.

Keep it safe!

It's on Amazon.co.uk for £32.00 :o  :(

Hell, I've got one of them! Different cover, but I bet it's the same. Cost me a quid from a charity shop.  :o

That is... to sound as young as possible, Awesome!!  And I just love the commander is that scratch built too? (I don’t have that head in my bag of Quar)

Yup, I sculpted him from leftovers of the putty used for blending the turret. He is a bit chunky, but given that he always rides around in a tank instead of walking, I guess it´s a fair deal.

Another... thingie.

Last weekend, I got bitten by the sculpting bug and started work on a baggage animal for the forthcoming Quar army.

Here´s the little fellow, I called him the "Cawrfil":

Basically, he´s a hilarious hybrid of elephant, sauropod and camel. He´s going to get a cawrfil-load of stuff added to his back over the next few days - today I´m just too tired. Hope to get him done by next weekend.

Suggestions for the paint scheme are welcomed.

Cawrfil, thousand-giant in English. A referance to how many pounds of equipment it can carry obviously, very well thought out and excellently sculpted.  8)
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

Thanks a bunch - the dictionary I used gave "a huge animal" as a loose translation (I started out looking up "elephant"), but yours is even better. :)

Before we begin I have to explain that I've been contracted to write stuff about the Quar so I'm not an independent observer. I am a fan, however. :D

The Quar are an alien race produce by Zombiesmith. You can read about them here:

http://www.zombiesmith.com/pages/quar/

I was drawn to them because they look both comical and tragic at the same time. The Quar are fighting a long civil war among themselves, and their technology is on par with the 1920s. They are unique but not fantastic - they seem plausible and yet alien.

My favourite aspect is that they strongly remind me of the oooold "War Lizards" comics. And come on, comically-chubby anteater/ibis hybrids with water-cooled machine-guns! I mean, WHO on earth can resist THAT?!?

So guys, as the modified title suggests, I FINALLY got around painting the first Infantry Squad of my Quar company.

I went for a bunch of different skin tones, just for fun, but blue and fleshtone will be the most prominent ones. The uniform is several tones of Vallejo sands, khakis and Revell acrylic white, with dark rubber tone for the webbing and browns for the leatherwork.

As well as the above, I finished a Caerten, an Is-Caerten and the Pykpyk handler tonight. Pics tomorrow or on thursday, I hope. And, I do not tire to repeat, the Pykpyk handler is the best non-historical figure I have EVER painted. :D

Plus another picture of the tank with infantry for scale - strangely enough, the commander torso is spot on, the original head was waaay off, but now the tank shows its enormous size! Well, at least it won´t be cramped inside.
