Has anyone tried this website? http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/sergal_plans.html

As well as all the excellent ship models, they sell the plans. A few of the ships are 1:58 and 1:60 scale, which would be great for 25-28mm pirate models. Just wondered if anyone has the plans or has tried to follow them for wargaming purposes.

Those are very cool ships and plans!

My concern is that an accurate scale model is serious overkill for wargaming purposes, where we play fast and loose with such thing because they have to survive being handled on the table.

They're gorgeous, but you'd need to discard most of that beautiful detail in order to make room for miniatures -- and your hands.

I've seen similar vessels in discount home-decor stores for around $30, all assembled and ready to have parts stripped off. You'd need a decent saw, as in table- or band-, to cut off the hull and convert it to a waterline model.

HMAV Bounty.

Named correctly for once. A trifling distinction, but I for one am impressed they caught it. Sergal Models get an extra piece of cake next time they are round at my house.

His Majesty's Armed Vessel - well, there's my piece of trivia for the day...

Wikipedia's Mutiny on the Bounty article even has a section on "HMS vs HMAV".
