Elric and the Rest
« on: 06 January 2013, 01:08:02 AM »
Does anyone know who owns the rights to produce miniatures and other materials for Mr. Moorcock's works of Multiversal majesty?

GW had figures back in the '80"s and Chaosium produced an RPG but what happened after that?

Moorcock is pretty stingy on his IP.  Not sure if he's alive though....

He is still alive and writing, he did a Dr. Who book recently, starring Captain Cornelious and the 11th Doctor!

But who owns the rights to the gaming potential of his work? Someone out their must know...

Brother Vinni has done a couple a pieces inspired by some Moorcock jacket art (in disregard of IP I believe though).

I am also interested about the IP, a long time ago Eureka were going to be doing some separate heads for the Granbretan from Hawkmoon, different beast helmets etc but it came to nothing. I would be all over some Elric and Hawkmoon miniatures! I cant believe with all the "not" figures out there that no one is doing anything!!!

Given the way the miniatures scene 'borrowed' much of Moorcock's iconic work even down to the eight arrowed Chaos symbol back in the day before IP existed, it is hardly surprising he is reticent about releasing rights to his remaining works.
If you want to model any Elric related minis I suggest anything High Elf/Dark Elf related released by 'you know who' after the demise of the Chaosium game and Citadel's Eternal Champions range in the late 80's.

There was a brilliant limited edition one done by an internet retailer a few years back...Tom Meier sculpt. Can't for the life of me remember the name.....

Edit - http://www.fantization.com/ but it was some years ago......

Double edit.....still available...limited edition in  2003..

The Citadel personality stuff was excellent although I felt they lost it when doing the infantry / cavalry types.

Archive miniatures did a few in the late 70s / early 80s - very old school but I liked them....

Seemingly Eureka got Moorcock's agreement?

From the 1st images the sculpts have some 'Old school' look.

Flana Mikosevaar has a wider potential outside the World of the Runestaff: she could very well be a mysterious 18th C. lady wearing a mask (Carnival, fanciful dancing party) and of course she would fit for Carnevale.

A good 'ornithoptermodel would not be out of place in any 18th C. Fantasy / Horror ('Lacepulp') or 18th C. Sci-Fi ('Lacepunk') game.
