Re: Herring Jävlar! Anguish Update (and some finished stuff) 18/7 p.9

I've finished stuff!
I got a batch of goblins (from The Hobbit) from Mason earlier this summer. So after some basing, some grey stuff and much pondering (and a test game!), I managed to paint one of the buggers up yesterday.
I must warn that the pics are a bit so and so. Damn camera I had got taken back by my brother a couple of months ago (the little bastard!), so I had to manage the photographing with a 20 quid digital camera. It has ISO-settings. It's a pity that it doesn't matter if I put them on 80 or 200...

Anyhow, here he is. I call him Paul.

After our game test, I decided to build even more rocks and smaller terrain pieces that should be in the way when four players try to drive their boats on a 4x4 board. By the way, we're using the 7TV rules as they work well heroically. However, We've decided to add some more flexibility and instead of one person doing all their activations, each person have two to spend every turn. With some exceptions.

Here are the rocks.

I've also added a "hazard" table for every time someone drives a boat. After all, in the archepelago, the wastes are dangerous. The table includes everything from loose nets, to reefs. Since I didn't have any reefs, I decided to build some. They can also double as terrain that you can jump on.

Now for the anguish. The convention is the last weekend in August. I know that this is loads of time. But, not for me. Especially when I have to build at least another boat and a raft of some sort. Preferably even two more boats to make sure... This is what I've painted for the project all in all.

This is what I've built and have to paint :(

Here's a pic from the game testing. The poor mutants get's a nasty surprise when the island is infested with zombies. All while the fishermen have their hands full with a horde of zombouys attacking...

The rocks and reefs look very good, mate, and Paul is very nice too ( ;D).
 :-*

They are all fitting together very well and it sounds like it will be a very entertaining game.

You had better pull your finger out, though, mate.
Time is getting short.

If you look on the pics of my never dimishing paint que, you'll spot two fellas without legs, those are the zombouys :)
They appear randomly when the good folks drive their boats around. When they pop up, the driver needs to succeed with a fear test, otherwise they'll panic and steer the boat in a random direction. All passengers need to do an agility test to stay in the boat.
The game is utter chaos with the 7Tv rules a bit modified to suit the landscape :)

Bloody hell. Finally, after some other stuff as moving and finishing other projects, I've finally managed to donsomething for this project!
A couple of months ago I picked up a Playmobile boat for a very low price. I thought, when I saw it online, work well as a basis for the mutants to sail around on the seven bays and wreck havoc on its poor inhabitants, zombies, Germans, Russians, fishermen, cannibals, neo-nazis, cultists, apemen, pre-historical mammals, army men, spies and of course, the upcoming sea monsters. Have no fear, the mutants are actually painted. I just have to find a descent camera and do a better set-up than before (I really need to work on that basebord!).
Anyhow, here's the boat, a bit stripped of stuff that could be removed without an extreme physical force or/and powertools. I curse thee Germans and your quality toys! >:(

In it's almost original glory.

With a miniature so you can grasp the size.

I mentioned powertools earlier in the text. Well, I don't have that available. But, I do have a jewelery saw and a much larger one to cut down trees. Unfortunately, I also got a child that needed a good ol' "Get out of here, daddys sawing, and it's dangerous work darling", followed by a "fuck me jesus!" as a lapse of consentration made me saw a bit into my thumb. Fortunatelt the poor sod with it's grand total of 9 stitches from previous mishaps that includes a sarp knife and cold cut cutter, it just bled a bit. So with a Hello Kitty band-aid, and an ice cream break, I finished of the cutting. To my own amazement, with a conception of straight lines as a cross-eyed cyclops, I had cut almost straight!

I've tried to make a plan as the great AndyM and stick to my drawings. However, my superb succes in cutting straight was celebrated with half a bottle of sweet white wine (The Germans are aware of my odd affinities when it comes to alcohol). So. I decided to throw away the silly, modest and achivable plan. Insted of a simple boat with a crew and maybe some detailing, I've decided that I'll build the grand mother fudder, the epitome of a boat and a greatness never seen. So, I need to get some more plastic card, because it ran out after I did this.

My vision is to build a whole new skirt with railings around the ship. With a two-storey cabin. And a wee secret that will either go to hell (hence, me not reveilng it yet), or it will look alright and I'm just building up suspension for a "meh". Just like the bloody game yesterday.

This will be all for now. Ta!

Did some extra tedious work that noone will notice when they game. Every fisherman with at least some selfrespect will have a crane/winch to pull the cod filled nets.
So here it is. It will need some green stuffing and more detailing, but I'll leave that to the end when I have to drill and do some silly rivets :) Past experience jave taught me to do all detailing on a piece in one go, or I'll end up super detailing one part, and then just feeling uninspired to do the rest a detailed.

Cheers, Steve :) I haven't got your darting preciosion when it comes to plastic card cutting though, so I will probably end up using a whole pack of green stuff to sort outthe missing millimetres and crooked corners ;)

Started some very uninspiring detailing. Still need to do some grey stuffing to continue with the last detailing stage. I'm still very unsure what to do about the front of the ship. I will add a Harpoon, but then what? The same thing on the mid deck. Just an good ol' opening for fish, or what?
Here are some stages :)

Nice progress!  8)

My first thought for the front was one of those protruding platform extensions with the railing sides, like on the boat used in Jaws.

But of course! I've been thinking about it, and even saw a lot of reference pics for it, but then it totally slipped my mind. Thank you, Steve!

Cheers mate! :)
And it will be as rusty as an Italian car in Sweden!
I'm very tempted to test the whole hairspray approach on this. I reckon it will be easier to get the white on it that way :)

Thanks for your comments, guys! It helps for inspiration when I sit alone with an audiobook and get a irritating cough due to the glue ;)
