Tabletop Nation in Hockley, Essex, are holding a show called 'Grumpy old wargamers' (don't ask, I chose not to!) and Prodos Games are attending with demo games of Warzone Resurrection.

See, for the first time in public, the rules for some of the models in the game, and give it a go.

Entry to the show is free, tickets can be found on the Tabletop Nation website.

Wow, that was productive and positive. Thanks for your feedback!

Any chance you can express why? Might help us with future ventures.  :)

I think the miniatures looks suprisingly good. I was not really psychhed about the new style compared to the old models. But I must admit they look great painted and on the battlegield.

@Rob -

Well, it's a matter of taste and these are not to my taste. But sure, for future reference in other ventures:

- All details are anything but crisp and seem rather muddled.
- The bare-chested Cybertronics seems to suffer from "3D-printing" disease with all too visible printlines on their arms and other metallic areas.
- The elongated skulls on some Cybertronic units
- The shortened/mutated skulls on the Legionaires
- More of a "Rackham/AT-43"-style than old-school Target style

Its the paintjob on the green Cybertronic chassurs that make them look muddled. The blue ones and the dark legionares looks much better.

I somewhat agree with Phoenikuz on the style-matter - I also think they have a 'clicks'-like appearance.

To be fair, the models are of a contemporary sculpting-style, and they seem to fit with each other. I still think most of them are too far away from the original concepts for my liking (I think it would have been possible to 'modernize' the sculpts without drifting so far from the old imagery), and I think the armoured chasseurs look more like a kind of space rangers/marines than actual cyborgs, but they undoubtedly will be to the taste of some.

I do not 'not like' the minis as such - had they been made for a new game/setting I would have no reservations, I just happen to like the original setting/imagery a lot.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

This made me smile, the blue ones are mine.  :D

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's understandable that not everyone will like them and that is completely fair. :)

Argh, I think that is pretty much spot on!

But to take up a game like Warzone is a pretty big thing to do. No doubt it will be hard to please everyone.

I think the modernized way is probably the right way to go, if the plans are to have a game that need to survive more than "just" for old school hardcore fans.

I look forward to see where this is going and wish the best of luck.  :)

I am not going to win any friends amongst the old Warzone fans here but here goes...

Amongst the hundreds of old Warzone miniatures, how many actually look good enough to buy in today's modern market place?

I like the Vulkan battle suits and the plastic trenchers but crikey there are some dire sculpts amongst the rest. Chunky, out of proportion miniatures wearing ridiculously oversized shoulder armour and carrying massively oversized weapons... flat poses and some bizarre poses too.

I understand nostalgia but why would you want to take such a massive step backwards?

Now, I know it is a taste thing but just look at Starship Troopers. Think to yourself what makes a mobile infantryman and I bet if everyone gave their ideas, most would be completely different. Yes the Warzone artwork is there to look at but just because a drawing is stylised, it doesn't mean the troops have to be.

I can't see the pix at the moment so can't comment on the details but I have seen them in WIP and can at least say that they have good proportions and have some proper design behind them.

This whole project has brought out the chalk and cheese fan-base. But to you old-school fans, please feel free to post a link to some well proportioned, old-school, warzone miniatures with reasonable armour and carrying reasonably sized weaponry to prove me wrong.

No matter what anyone says, at least these are more wargame oriented that the last attempt with 54mm pre-painted plastc.

Models doesn't necessarily have to be well proportioned to be cool  ;) And about reasonable armour and size of weapons, that thing is pretty much still going on in loads of new lines of models.

I don't think people who prefer the old models to the new does so because they feel the old are more realistic. I think it is a matter of style, the old Warzone minis is just the way people think this should be.

I like the new AND the old models, but the old models say Warzone to me, the new says, ehm, something else, something new.
