I guess response exceeded expectations and they were overcome by events?

I guess so, plus original pledge was rather low (£5,000) ;) Yet, in less than 24 hours, it's been achieved more than 3 times ! That's a pretty good response I'd say ^^

All very nice and shiney but where is the deal for anyone who already has the existing box sets and rules?

Its obviously happening as the target has been tripled so I will just pick up the odd pieces I like when they are available.

Must say the speed and numbers on this has surprised me as the Nickstarter is going much slower by comparison

Nice,   8)   :-*   but...   :'(

Gothic Horror has made the chopping block  :o (later) for disposal before retirement in 2016 so buying more isn't in the cards.   :-[

I think the earlybird specials are the cause of that, they create a panic frenzy (just like Harvester....)

My real concern is that at 431% funded there are no stretch goals! They have sold the level with strecth goals and now can set the first at over 500% funding? I hope they will be fair and offer some that have allready been passed...

I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

As thebinmann says, early bird specials tend to cause a frenzy. But I think one of the most important factors (but not the only one) is the fact that the EotD-campaign is indeed using Kickstarter. If In her Majesty's Name had done the same thing I believe it would have raised a lot more by now than £7.5k.

If volume of pre-order sales and exposure are the only two things a new product is looking for then Kickstarter is absolutely unique right now, especially for miniatures, board games, rpgs and video games. But it's obviously not going to last, and the cut that Kickstarter/Amazon takes is quite steep, especially since it's calculated from the total amount raised, and not after any costs are deducted.

I think it's a commendable route that Nick is taking. I get the impression that as an established brand/range these EoTD figures would come out at some time in the future regardless as there is an established customer base. It then becomes a bit more of a pre-order system. It's different (IMHO!) with entirely new ranges/settings as the potential customer base is often largely an unknown factor so the risks in setting up a new range without heavy market research (which costs money and/or takes time) may be too high. That being said I wish them well as the figures are rather nice!

I grow weary of the deerstalker  ::)

I thought the silhouette on this one looked bareheaded. And possibly holding a violin?

I'm just hoping the Time Machine might be the one they had on their display game.
Might be worth getting some of the new GW goblins if it is.

Their display game also had a Cavorite spaceship....

He is indeed in his pondering attire, which I do like. I had not seen that when I made my comment regarding the Death Frisbee.

It would be fun to work all the Holmes figures into some kind of convention scenario as Holmes impersonators. Another idea for the LARP Hunter game.

Hmmmmm I missed the early bird 100 as they were all gone by the time I got home from work  >:(

Shame that it took so long for the 1st stretch goal to come out, 20,000 really!!  On a 5,000 goal!!

Eventhough pledging continues there's no peek at the next nor any indication at which new pledge amount will trigger it.  :(

Despite the fantastic looking figures I'm actually a little disappointed with this one.

@ Sterling Moose:

I think I understand a bit; I almost feel that we should have had two or even three goals unlocked rather than one, given the target was smashed so thoroughly. Instead, I feel a little "cheated", in part because I don't know what the next target would have been had the update been faster/more responsive.

Still, I do think the KS looks to be good value, and I've been patiently waiting for a while to get new models out, so it seems like a good one to join! Also, with companies like WW, I can see why they need and benefit so much from KS, and I like supporting them if they have something worth producing.
