Tasty little pirate babes indeed, Anne! A pity that they are already hired, because I feel an urge to pressgang them into my crew for the Merry Mermaid...Ma´m you know to handle your brush!

Thank you. I'm painting up a gang of Cowgirl Babes sculpted by Ridolfi and one of them is wearing a pair of chaps......

Ah, I can always count on you to bring me back to the good old days, DeafNala. I recall being in brick-and-mortar game shops (very hard to find where I am in the US nowadays) and the Guthrie's would pop out from amongst the static, here-are-my-weapons figures that seemed to dominate the shelves.

Anne- totally agree with you about those 2 sculptors as well. Tom Meier sells his stuff here:

and he did a couple of cute figures for his kids:

The addresses say it all!
Jev

I'm all over that site! I'm slowing buying everything he has there. I've got all the High Elves, most of the Wood Elves, Ballerina Princess Fairies, FIW, I'm working on the Arthurian collection now. The cool thing is that when you buy there, they give you free figures. I've gotten goblins with my last two orders, so now I'm going to buy his goblins next.

This one is from Reaper and she's sculpted by Patrick Keith.

This one is my favorite because I liked using these colours and I like the way her face turned out. I did a little wet blending on her and the transitions are smoother on the skin.

Thank you

Yeah, those things you mention, color choice, blending, attention to the face, really pay out dividends in the overall effect. Really lifelike face and very nice overall.

I must say I'm very much impressed. After only one year of painting you have managed to have a very distinct style and are doing so much more to the miniatures than "just painting". You're giving them character, a life somehow. I especially love all the background fluff. Very inspiring work.

The skin tones & brushwork in general are BEAUTIFULLY WELL DONE! The blue eyes are becoming your trademark & a very attractive one at that.

The face is totally awesome on that babe. The shading under her eyes especially, makes the eyes pop. Her decollette has fantastic shadow as well. I was going to ask for your flesh tips after the first babe. Did you use the wet blending on her as well? Can you explain how you do it?

Loving the crew,
Jev

She's from Reaper and the sculptor is listed as unknown.

When I look at this one, I see everything I did wrong. The transitions on the skin are really harsh and not blended well at all. The black lining I did on the jacket is sloppy and my highlighting on the black is not at all what it should be. I'm still struggling with black. The only thing I like about her is the highlighting on the jacket in the back.

Now the guys liked this one the best, but I don't think that has anything to do with the brushwork.

I see what you mean (both painting wise and otherwise  lol).

Maybe a careful wash over her skin will soften the transition a little?
And I understand your problem with black. It takes a lot of time to paint that colot right. You might like to have a look at a Nazgul I painted some time ago in my Midle Earth Thread about painting blacks.

I think it's on page 5.

But then again, I think the black on your model doesn't look bad.
