RAY, i am late come to this lovely place on the internet, and all i cans ay about your project is, erm, WOW!WOW!WOW!WOW!!!!!!!!!!

when i grow up (i am 63) i want to paint like YOU!

ever considered using DOLLAR STORE plastic poker chips for basing  your tall trees, smaller trees, and  small  clumps vegetation on?

being braindead, it only took me 20 years to figure out that poker chips could actually be used for something besides playing poker . . . .

DAWGIE amazed by the consistantly high quality paint jobs he sees on "armies" on this group (the whole shebang of a list!) . . .

Thanks guys,

I've still got a bit to do, but the project is nearing completion now.

Let's see... as of right now I'm finishing 6 more Pegesus Palms Trees and a whole bunch of high grass and clumps of vegetation.  So still a lot of terrain to finish.

I've got a giant spider (from Ebob) to do, 10 more Tribal infantry types, and a few more dinos and adventurers.

Hopefully I'll be posting some more pics soon.

Still pounding out more scenery, however, here is a shot of my Troglodytes:

I'll be using them in many ways... but mostly as a random event/encounter in my lost world.

Just to keep things up to date...

Here is a shot of the "Gems of the Collection"... White Wolf Medium Cavalry:

And a single shot of the Champion:

These figures are actually quite large raising up to 70mm (3 inches) and took a lot of effort to paint.

Truth be known, the whole idea of the Expedition was devised while the Medium Cavalry were still on the workbench over at Shadowforge Miniatures.

Hadn't really been following this, but what I'm seeing here doesn't look like colonials to my bleary eyes. I'm probably gonna move this somewhere else, but not right now, so you've got a while to talk me out of it, if you are so inclined.

The thread has been here for well over a year.  It's a Lost World scenario set in the Colonial era.

If you want to move it to Pulp, I'm not fussed.

Nicely done figs...  I can never do eyes and nipples correctly.  (I know there is a joke in there somewhere...)

What's the secret to doing good nipples? Just a darker/lighter shades?

Nicely done figs...

Thanks, mate!

What's the secret to doing good nipples? Just a darker/lighter shades?

Well, I'm no expert but here is the way I do it:

Since women have smoother features, I try to be very careful shading and highlighting the skin; meaning a whole lot less difference in the colors.  So I tried to paint them a lot more subtle when it came to the shading and the highlights.

I paint the nipples using my shade color with just a tiny bit more brown.  But because I highlight the top of the breast first, the nipple stands out a bit more than the normal shade color you see on the figure.  The bellybutton is the nipple color with again just a tiny bit more brown to make it a bit darker.

So basically, for the nipples, it is just my shade color applied over top the highlight.

I think where folks sometimes err is that they try to make the nipples too dark.

Painting naked women... pretty tough really, something I had never done before so, overall I'm really happy how they turned out.
