Back in the 80's when I was in High School, I dreamed of owning all those cool minis. Alas I had no such money to do so. Now I'm 43 and still can't afford their damn figures, even if I wanted to! I don't know if they will ever disappear, but they certainly leave me cold with their business practices. They pretty much destroyed the older mini companies with their scale creep and very effective propaganda, but I doubt they will ever kill historical miniature wargaming.

Amen brother! I am 41 and feel your plight! oddly, I and my older friends are fleeing to historical gaming to get away from GW pricing and bad rules changes...

"Sarge, I have to go to the bathroom..."
"Marine, you will wait until this Hulk is cleansed....."
"Sarge, I think my suit will need to be cleansed next..."
"Sir, I just threw up in my power armor..."
"Marine, the Emperor protects...stay strong.."  lol

Today you get to pee and poop and throw up in your MOPP/NBC gear...   Not too different.

Yikes. They really are pumping out the Fisher Price toys now. Finecast sealed the deal for me on not bothering with GW, but the new aesthetic keeps reminding me I have nothing to miss.

My store lives about a third on the GW nipple, but I must say...

Those have the look of doom to them, and I don't mean to the Emperor's enemies.  ::)

Edit: No, I refuse to believe those are real. MUST be somebody's bad photoshop. As I said on the deck of the Titanic, 'this ship is unsinkable.'

The sad part is I used to love WH40K. Actually I still do love the universe. I love the books written and the RPG s released the couple of years gone by.
I really like the ordinary Space marine troopers and scouts. I like the Imperial guard minis and vehicles. I am fond of the Tau and kroots. Overall I like the troop choices of all playable races.
These new miniatures are just silly and have no Place in the Space Marines. You can´t go around inventing new Marine stuff and still keep them belivable. The story of the space marines are already written. Change isn´t their thing. I have always imagined the Space Marine to be a tad conservative.

A part of me are dying seeing how they slowly destroy what they once created. I understand the economiccal theories that drive them, about how the company must grow and destroy the competition. (Just like Orcs I guess ;) )

I am not mad at them or ranting about it. I just feel sad.

This has summed up what I wanted to say better than I could. Loved the universes (both fantasy and 40k) but then they began to change the look and feel of them. I suppose they already were rather ridiculous but they had a reasonably unique dark feel to them that made them really interesting slices of lore to explore and game in. I feel sad that they have gone in this somewhat more Hasbro direction.

If you push their heads down, do they throw a punch?

Hey, I have a great idea for a wargame... lol

Next step is to rename themselves "Gum Warshop" and enter the 3+ market with miniatures you can eat ^^

And this right here is why I still will not play GW and why I still think they are a poor excuse for a company.

Lowering production costs, reducing staff numbers, closing stores, making more products online only and increasing the price to get profits is not a sign of success
True!
A stock that has grown over 500% over five years, and that steadily, must be a typical example of them not knowing anything...

Embarrassingly, I quite like them but not for the £50 for three thats being quoted for them.

Carve off the skullz and assorted tat and replace the heads and they would make rather decent deep space asteroid miners or even an industrial mech but I just don't see them as Space Marines although looking at them again, they might do at a pinch as an old school Dreadnought...

They remind me of the MB Space Crusade marines.
