Today it's delivery day for some armoured(?) support – yes, despite it's Friday 13th! I'm not that superstitious, and my troops are in urgent need of additional gunfire if they want to withstand those Eight Million Bayonets – and a "Bren" carrier should easily fix that. ;)

Not the greatest of all models (and that's more down to casting quality rather than design), and I didn't go for the full historical detailing. But it'll do for our games.
Some further remarks and views on the blog. Thanks for visiting/watching/commenting – always appreciated! :)

Pha, superstition! ::)

Looks good. You mention on the blog post the Bren carrier is 'not a gaming piece'? Slightly confused by that since its made by the Perries. Was it produced for display only then? :?

Just the ruins of a former text version, now corrected. Of course, it IS a gaming piece.

This is very interesting and I was looking at gamine East Africa and Greece. But what size is the games table?  Its the lack of cover that I wonder about in North Africa games unless the tablw is large. Looking great though!

With CoC table size remains at 6'x4', could perhaps be even smaller for open ground. TFL gave it a go, and I found their report quite illuminating: http://toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=1591

I'm also still painting for this project. Feel free to visit our blog here to see my 2nd section of the Brits and a Bren team for the first one. Till then, hope you enjoy the cheesy rendition of the said 2nd section. :D

Remington,

Can I ask you about the colours you used for painting your Brits?  I am going to undercoat mine today and really love what you have done with yours!

Rich

PS we have a desert campaign lined up for before Christmas, my old mate Sidney Roundwood is painting up some Italians.

Thanks fellas!

Rich, sure thing. I started by looking at the the tutorial from Artizan Miniatures (here), but basically I am just priming them with Army Painter Skeleton Bone and then paint a shirt, helmet or pair of pants here and there with alternative colours. Those are Foundry Base Sand 10A, Vallejo Iraqi Sand or Vallejo Pale Sand. So I am keeping most parts in the Skeleton Bone primer.

Skin is Foundry Mediterranean Skin 12B (thanks to Lt. Hazel and Mad Doc Morris for the tip), webbing Vallejo German Camo Beige.

After laying down the foundation for everything, I wash them with Army Painter soft tone (the little eye drop bottles). Following that I use the same paints I used for foundation to highlight once. The cool thing is that AP have Skeleton Bone as a brush on as well, so the primer showing is no problem at all. I follow that with another hightlight of foundation paint plus some white.

Clothing usually has 2 highlights, skin usually 3, but I allow myself to add or subtract if I feel like it and am happy with the result.

Weapons are done in Foundry Spearshaft 13A, wood grain is emulated with Vallejo Desert yellow and then I wash the wooden parts with a sepia wash (for example GW, cause it's a nice red, warm colour) until I am happy. Metal bits are Vallejo Dark Grey and I do the highlights after the wash described below by adding white.

Hope that helps. :)
